“A three stars hotel with a 5 stars service”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 27 February 2013

My family and I spend a week at Plaka Hotel. We didn't know what to expect until we got there. The way we were welcomed to the hotel and the service provided was superb. I was amazed how the receptions staff speaks more than three and four languages. Michael, Antonia and Elsa were excellent; they guided us when we have questions about where to go and what to do for tours. The accommodations service also was excellent; we had clean rooms every day. The breakfast was also great. Overall, service exceeds our expectations.

My family just spent 6 days at Plaka Hotel in Athens, Greece and what can we say, what a wonderful experience. We were so close to everything, The Acropolis, the Museums, the Temple of Zeus, Monasteraki Plaza, just to name a few. Everthing within a walking distance. We could not have choosen a better hotel to stay. We were 12 of us with 6 children and the location was so convinience for all of us.
The rooms were great, the hotel went the extra miles to place 3 beds in each room to accomodate are needs and placed all 4 rooms next to each other, how convinience was that when you travel with kids and family.
Upon our arrival to Greece, after 14 hours trip, Tonia and Michael made us feel sooooo welcome and helped us planned our stay to Greece. We are so greatful to them for helping us coordinate the different tours. And we feel like we had our own family room in the cateferia, everynight the family met at the same spot to enjoy a cup fo hot cocoa and coffee with biscuits, have dinner and enjoy different game and to have a glass of wine. Elsa, the lounge/cafeteria assistant made our nights very enjoyable. We can not thank her enough for putting up everynight with all the kids.
It was a dream vacation, we had a great time. Thank you Plaka Hotel staff for helping our dream in Greece come true. Hope to visit Athens some other time.

Recently stayed at this hotel for a short city break based on its Trip Advisor rating. It lived up to that rating, representing great value for money with excellent staff ans service. The views of the Acropolis from the roof terrace are wonderful and even in mid winter it evokes pictures of its historical past. The hotel itself is located in the old town just a short walk from all of the main attractions. The rooms although on the small side are spotlessly clean and the beds are very comfortable. Highly recommended as the base for a city break in Athens. Enjoy a glass of wine or a local beer on the roof terrace whilst admisring the views.

Room Tip: If you cxan get a room with a view of the Acropolis that is a bonus but not necessary as there is a...

We stayed here twice, once for 5 nights with an amazing view of the acropolis (4th floor). The room was a bit small, but upon returning for one night we were given the room opposite our previous room. This disnt have a good view and was a lot noisier, but the room was almost double the size.

The breakfast was great and there was tea and coffee facilities available throughout the day (for free).

The service was fantastic, you could wash a bag of clothes for 9 euro, which would cost immensely more elsewhere, returned in 24 hours.

We had to get a doctor at short notice and extend our stay for 2 days, both which were possible and easily done, which really helped a stressful situation.

Wifi is available in the rooms, but costs 1€ an hour with 2 free hours upon arrival.

We had a room on mid floor with balcony which has a view of Acropolis. It was nice and clean. Love the location! We saw other hotels as we walked but for some reasons, I love Plaka Hotel more. Staff was very friendly (even the maids) except for one person behind the desk who didn't seem to have patience for our ignorant questions regarding travelling by taxis, we only see him in the evenings.

The breakfast was good. Complimentary morning and afternoon beverage is a bonus. Love the rooftop!

Just returned from a fantastic stay in The Plaka Hotel, a small hotel with a fantastic location, just a few minutes walk from The Acropolis, Monastiraki and many other fantastic places. We had a family connecting room, which although the rooms are not over spacious, provides ample space. The room was spotless and tastefully decorated. The hotel just felt very friendly, welcoming and was child friendly.
Athens itself was a joy and not at all how recently portrayed. We used the metro a few times which was easy to navigate, clean and not over busy.
Overall a fantastic hotel in an amazing city.

We stayed at the Plaka Hotel in January; I last stayed there many years ago before the renovation. The hotel has been tastefully upgraded and is very clean, comfortable and pleasant. The staff were extremely helpful and when I had to make a late cancellation for my sister, due to sudden ill health, the hotel administrators were helpful and understanding and even waived the cancellation fee. We particularly liked the way hotel staff greeted guests at breakfast and gave them ideas on where to go and what to do and what transport to take. We were also happy to find a very good barber/hairdresser right next door - highly recommended and reasonable priced. It was easy to walk up to the Acropolis, Flea Market and Ancient Agora from the hotel and there were many good restaurants nearby. Also a good area to catch taxis and a short walk to the Metro. We got an off peak special deal for sixty five euros per night, which was very reasonable. I would definitely recommend this hotel as a nice place to spend three to five nights while exploring Athens.

Room Tip: For a bit more you can request a room with a view of the Acropolis, but all rooms are nice.
