“One of the top sightseeing”
Reviewed 14 May 2014

To get into the Agora you can purchase the ticket of € 12 which will allow you to visit other attractions of the city such as the Acropolis and few other places around the city.
The Agora itself is a museum that contains a variety of buildings such as statues, capitals , vases and many other items really old .
It was built according to the traditional Greek style temple.
But perhaps the thing that characterizes this place is the huge outdoor area that surrounds this modern temple which is an open sky museum.
Here you can walk among the ruins of buildings from Roman times and admire the beautiful bust of the emperor Hadrian.
Not very far from here, about 200 meters there is a fabulous greek temple perfectly preserved and it is really worth seeing it.
All in all this is a visit of about a couple of hours but it is definitely a must to do .

“Loved this place”

It is so calm compared to the Acropolis. A great walk looking at great places..... and enjoying the nature at the same time in the very middle of the town. A favorite place in Athens.

“A hidden treasure in sight of the Acropolis”
Reviewed 10 May 2014

Agora does one thing much better than the more famous attraction of the Acropolos, which is a modern replica of what (some of) the buildings woulld have actually looked like. The completed 'Agora' (literally market) is a spectular building that helps you realize just how clever, and what brilliant engineers, the Ancient Greeks were. The building has been turned into a very nice museum that probably ranks as second only to the National Archological Museum (further out in the city of Athens).
In addition, there are acres of grounds that have been excavated to show the size and distribution of the population as it would have lived in the area. There are very comprehensive explanations of every site including pictorial representations that help put the site into perspective. One not to miss is the Temple of Hepheistes (465-415bc) right on the top of the hill.
Whilst the Acropolis is ranked as the number one tourist attraction in Athens, I honestly enjoyed Agora more. A must see.
