We stayed at this hotel for two days. It is very well located because it is right in the centre of the city. All of the staff were very friendly. The architecture of the hotel is just beautiful. There is also a lot to do in the hotel. Overall, we had a great stay and we would definitely go there again.

We were fortunate enough to stay one night at the Grande Bretagne before our recent cruise out of Athens. We had previously stayed at the King George Palace, the sister hotel next door, and hoped this would live up to the same high standard. We were not disappointed. From the moment we arrived we found the service to be excellent. We were given a standard room on the second floor overlooking the central courtyard. The view was restricted as we looked onto the top of a marquee that was erected in the courtyard but there were window boxes with flowers outside all the windows which were pretty. The bedroom was fairly small but elegantly furnished and comfortable and the marble bathroom was well appointed with a separate bath tub and shower cubicle with good quality toiletries.

We had pre-booked a table for dinner in the roof top restaurant which was lucky as the hotel was full. We were given a table on the roof terrace with a view of the Acropolis and had a delicious meal accompanied by a couple of bottles of a lovely Greek rose wine. We also used the roof top swimming pool during the afternoon which was very welcome and refreshing on a hot day.

Breakfast was included in our stay and was excellent. There was a good selection of cold and hot foods, an amazing choice of breads and pastries, fruit and yogurts and even a delicious Creme Caramel. The freshly squeezed orange juice was also lovely.

This made a wonderful start to our holiday and we would not hesitate to return one day if we get the chance.

First impression was that of opulence. Breathtakingly beautiful and located within the heart of Athens. We had a standard room overlooking quiet side street which we were grateful for as the better rooms had wonderful views but experienced traffic noise. Ultra comfortable beds, luxury bathroom with quality toiletries. Everything you would expect in a 5 star hotel. Our stay was a post Seabourn Cruise which we knew would be a hard act to follow. It was as the restaurant and food was disappointing. Admittedly the restaurant on the 8th floor was amazing with plenty of alfresco seating and the views over to the Parthenon were to die for.Breakfast also served there but we found it too frenetic. I would still recommend the dining experience but opt for something simple like a steak? and dont forget your mortgage deeds? During our stay the president of Azerbajain arrived along with entourage, security etc and marred our stay. They commandeered most of the lifts and having to walk up 8 flights to the restaurant at our age was no joke! Internet access was expensive and it appeared that you had to pay to watch TV. There is a small rooftop pool, very tasteful with luxury beds parasol. Small bar area with restaurant. Food was disappointing. We did however enjoy our stay but would not revisit.

The Grand Bretagne is a beautiful, elegant and renovated historic 4.5-5 star property with formal (a little brusque) but efficient service.

The hotel is located right next to the Parliament building and a 5-10 minute walk away from the rest of the tourist areas in Athens. Cab rides to most of the sites or shopping areas are only 3 Euros. The breakfast buffet is included in the stay and allows you to enjoy breakfast looking out at the Acropolis (amazing).

Would definitely stay here again.

The lobby was beautiful. The reception and concierge were very helpful and recommended great guides and restaurants. The room was small, but nice. The only issue was that wifi cost way too much. Also, the restaurant there was very pricey. Overall, it was a very good experience.

I stayed here for 2 nights on a business trip. The hotel is luxurious and the view of the Acropolis from the roof restaurant/bar is spectacular. The food is also very good at the rooftop restaurant. I ordered the sea bass and it was simple, fresh, and delicious. I also enjoyed the breakfast buffet each morning on the roof.

The rooms are elegant and comfortable. From my room, I could see the changing of the guard at the tomb of the unknown soldier across the street at the Parliament building. As a SPG platinum member, I was upgraded to the top floor, where a butler is available 24/7. I didn't use the butler, but it added to the luxurious experience.

I will definitely stay here on my next trip to Athens.
