We only stayed the night but were treated like royalty. The butler who came with our suite was extra accommodating. He took care of our boarding passes, changed a dinner reservation, ordered a car to transport us to dinner and even found us later in the hotel to inform us that our driver was waiting outside for us.
The rooms don't have an outlet in the bathroom so a hairdryer for my wife was great to have but you need to go out into the living room to use it?
The view from the 8th floor of the Parthenon was incredible, open air bar and dining there as well. Same place for the buffer breakfast. A bit pricey but great location. The room could use a freshening up but service was impeccable! Thank you!

Room Tip: Our room had a large balcony but view was the opposite direction of the parthenon. We didn't use...

This Starwood property is very well managed - outstanding service - especially for SPG members. The rooms feel a little dated in decor but luxuriously appointed and very comfortable. The location is ideal for all the Athens sights. And the breakfast on the rooftop restaurant is absolutely fantastic. Great for families - we were there as a couple but will go back with our kids. Very American friendly, which you don't always find in Europe.

Room Tip: Try to get a room on the outer perimeter if you want a view of the Acropolis.

We spent 3 nights in Athens at the Hotel Grande Bretagne after 4 nights in Santorini. We chose this hotel due to the many positive reviews, proximity to the Acropolis and other locations we planned to visit, and for the pool. The hotel is nice; rooms are what you'd expect for the price point, the lobby and bar help make it feel "grand", and the pool and restaurant do provide some great views. What's missing is the staff and service to make this a luxury hotel and worthy of the name and history associated with the Hotel Grande Bretagne. Never once were we greeted by any of the staff, I don't know the purpose of the doorman as they never once opened a door or offered any assistance. The concierge and others at check-in really didn't seem terribly interested in their job or helping others. Were they mean or unfriendly? No, not really but the quality of service is what is holding this hotel back from being truly grand. For the price of our room ($270 euro) and quality of service, it's just average.

We stayed at this famous luxury hotel on a recent trip to Athens . We loved everything about the hotel. The staff at check in, the beautiful rooms, the bedding and linens, the bathroom were all what you would expect from a world class hotel. Can't wait to go back.

Room Tip: I saw three rooms and they were all great

To say that it is worth visiting Athens to just have breakfast at the hotel's rooftop restaurant may be an exaggeration, but if you consider the views of the Parthenon, it may not be far from the truth. We had 2 rooms - a Classic and a Junior Suite. These are well appointed and comfortable rooms. It is also perfectly located, at Syntagma Square.

The staff was pleasant, and the service excellent. I would like to call out Mr.Dimitris, the restaurant manager, for taking care of a misunderstanding with table reservation. The Grande Bretange is reputed to be one of the finest hotels is Athens. In my opinion. it lives up to its reputation.

This was part of a vacation to Greece and Turkey. This included the islands of Santorini and Mykonos, as well as some of the spots of mainland Greece such as Meteora and Delphi. If you are interested, a full report is available at the following location:

Tip: The Classic room is similar to a double room. 207 is one of the bigger ones.

We were more than impressed when we were brought to our room, upgraded to a suite and we received beautiful flowers in addition to some attractive welcome gifts including a bottle of ouzo. The hotel decor was both classy and functional and our room was simply so cozy that we spent more time than planned there.

Very worth mentioning was the roof top breakfast place. While enjoying the fantastic view of the Acropolis from the breakfast table, we could also enjoy very decently prepared buffet breakfast with a wide selection of Greek yoghurt and fresh fruits. Also it was one of the few places that served water to the table for breakfast. We enjoyed every part of it.

The only pity was the pool - outdoor, but too limited space for its capacity of rooms and guests. It was always full of people and chairs were extended to the bar area, almost to the exit area!

My husband and I stayed at The Grand Bretagne in June 2014 for 5 wonderful nights!
We loved this hotel! Rooms are elegant as well as the bathrooms.
Some of the additional enjoyable features are the rooftop pool and the fabulous top floor restaurant.
We had a terrific breakfast every morning overlooking the acropolis - ( big selections of Greek yogurts and honey) it is open air with more than a 180degree view of Athens. Just as beautiful is the view at night and suggest you enjoy drinks in the bar after sunset -
Great location walking distance to The Plaka where we walked for dinner every night and shopping options also are also very close- do not recommend eating at Strofi but do recommend eating at Daphene's - opa!

Room Tip: We split our trip in between Santorini one room was facing the parliament the other the courtyard bo...
