“Best pool in Athens but unfriendly service”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 10 July 2014

The hotel was luxurious, clean, spacious and modern. The front desk staff was not very helpful. They new that we were Hilton Honors members and yet they did not offer us free wifi or free buffet breakfast. We were a family of five and stayed there for four days. We even asked about these typical HH perks and they said that we weren't eligible. One month later, my daughter and I stayed there again and this time when I asked about the Hilton Honors perks, they offered free wifi and free breakfast. I was upset that my husband and sons had missed out on these perks and asked for compensation or at least a discount but they would not budge.

Room Tip: Ask for Acropolis view on a high floor. Acropolis view is also pool view.

Stayed at hilton athens for a night recently, was a great stay would definitely go back. Most staff were friendly and happy to go out of their way for you, others did with a grouchy look on their faces.. pool was gorgeous, room and amenities were clean modern and everything you'd expect at the Hilton. Definitely stay there again!

The aesthetics of the hotel are very nice. It's very striking, and it appears to be a really nice hotel. And it is. Unfortunately, my experience left much to be desired. While it has the appearance of a really nice hotel, it operates somewhat as a budget hotel. Everything has a charge. Upon arrival, I was allowed to check in early, which I appreciated. No charge. However, once I made it to my room and contacted the desk for my wifi password, I was advised that I had to pay €20/day for wifi. I was told that I could access complimentary wifi in the lobby. While inconvenient, I didn't find this too out of the ordinary, just slightly expensive. It was until the following day when I tried to access the gym that I was told €15 per day to access the gym. That, I had never heard of, and thought out of the ordinary. (I believe these fees are waived for platinum honors)

For a hotel that already charges a premium, I think it unwise and tasteless to charge these extra fees. I'd rather really stay at a budget hotel or splurge and stay at one with more taste.

Dear Guest,

Thank you very much for reviewing the Hilton Athens on Tripadvisor.

Your valuable feedback has been taken into serious consideration. We have noted and discussed with my colleagues that although you consider our property to be a really nice hotel, however you were concerned about some specific service charges such as the in-room WiFi as well as the spa entrance fee applied. Regarding the WiFi, this is indeed offered complimentary in all outlets, lounge area, main lobby. As for the Spa fee, this allows you to visit the Hiltonia spa/gym facilities as many times in the day you wish within operating hours.

We hope you will give us another opportunity to welcome you back. Once again, thank you for choosing the Hilton Athens.

We arrived in Athens rather fatigued after 24 hours of travel. Made it up to the bar on the roof and were blown away by the view of the Acropolis. Stayed several hours to watch the sunset and were entirely refreshed. Got up early the next day, thanks to jet lag, and made it up to the Parthenon before the heat of the day - easy walking distance of 2 miles or so from the hotel. The subway system is easily accessible and easy to use.

Room Tip: We had a good view but would have requested an Acropolis view if we had known about it.

Excellent hotel with great facilities. We stayed in King Hilton Executive Room and the view from the balcony was breathtaking! Rooms are nicely done and we had free access to wi-fi, gym and pool. Staff is friendly and helpful. It is very conveniently located close to Syntagma Square, metro station and the bus stop. Most of the major food outlets are nearby with an option of delivery in room for days you don't want to step out. Breakfast menu is good though not much option for vegetarians.
Highlight of our trip was the surprise we got on our Anniversary from the staff - wine and chocolates. It was a nice gesture!

We were booked in via Azamara Club Cruises to stay here 1 night pre cruise but we emailed in advance to ask for an Acropolis view room which we received as we were on our honeymoon! Check in took a while but a charming young man eventually checked us in and we enjoyed our stay on the 9th floor immensely - huge room, huge bathroom and great views!
Breakfast the next day was also included and we enjoyed everything that was on offer including the cinnamon rice pudding pot!
The hotel is modern and quite stylish and we enjoyed looking around the next morning, we also tried out the Galaxy bar for a cocktail and a beer, not cheap but a great experience looking out on Athens views.
We were originally booked in to stay at the Grande Bretagne but all in all we were pleased we ended up here and a change of plan as all worked out well.

Room Tip: Go for an upgrade to the 9th floor for an Acropolis view room!

We stayed at this hotel with several other couples all on the same trip and the hotel is great. Our room had a balcony and amazing view of the Acropolis as well as the harbor. It's convenient and safe to walk to many quality neighborhood restaurants as well as to Constitution Square and the Plaka. Amenities are exceptional and I always felt safe at the hotel. Staff always greet you with a smile and are willing to help in any way. We would definitely stay here again.
