“Wonderful Oasis in Athens”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 21 July 2009

We stayed here as diamond HH members are got upgraded on arrival to a lovely high room with a view of the Acropolis. The room was light and airy which was a blessed relief from the heat of the day, and had interesting design features and a nice balcony.

We had use of the executive lounge which was great with a selection of breakfast items then nibbles and drinks throughout the day. It was a great place to return to for a drink and relax after sightseeing

Perhaps the most impressive aspect of the hotel was the pool complex. There's a huge outdoor pool and seating area/poolside cafe which was great and had a great atmosphere. There's also an upscale spa and indoor pool to use. We didn't pay for pool use so I was surprised by a previous reviewer's comments

We found all staff to be helpful and friendly - in fact this is a very friendly city all round

We liked being out of town a little for the resort feel of the hotel, and it's only 2 stops from downtown on the metro, and only costs one euro for an air conditioned ride on a clean new railway. We also walked it a few times in around 15 minutes down a nice avenue

The rooftop galaxy bar was simply stunning and served wonderful cocktails and food

The only minus point I think was paying 10 euros for the business lounge to print our return flight boarding passes. Seemed steep for that and so many hotels now offer boarding pass free terminals in reception.

Overall thogh I just can't fault this place - a real oasis of calm cool marble in this stunning city.

I stayed 2 nights at the Hilton Athens with my points. The hotel is located at a very nice location right on the Evangelismo train stop (a stop or two from the Syntagma Square and Montristraki station) and it was so easy to hit up all the main sights at Athens. It was just nice to be in an American hotel with larger rooms and a bigger bed. All of the rooms have a balcony and ours, you can see the Acropolis at night.

The hotel also have a very nice pool and spa, and a few restaurants and a rooftop bar upstairs. It was good to come back and unwhined after a long day of sight seeing.

I do recommend this hotel for its convenience and the amendities that it has to offer.

This hotel is a chic destination spot in Athens. As a result the staff are beyond arrogant and have attitudes that make any interaction with them highly unpleasant and disagreeable. As a reviewer below noted, the front desk woman is just horrendous with a snarly personality. In addition, simple requests, like more soap or extra pillows, are fulfilled begrudgingly.

The gym and pool are very nice, but you have to pay to use them.

There are many hotel choices in Athens and one is well advised to avoid this one.

We stayed at the Athens Hilton the first 3 nights of our honeymoon in Greece. I am a diamond member of Hilton so we redeemed some of my points for our stay, but what we didn't expect was an upgraded room upon arrival because we were on our honeymoon. They sent up champagne and fruit within 15 minutes of our arrival, and the room was spacious, immaculate, and had a beautiful view from the balcony of the Acropolis. We couldn't believe how quiet the room was when we closed the balcony doors (when they were open, you could hear the sounds of a very busy intersection, but they obviously had some decent soundproofing!). Bathroom was gorgeous and the bed was very comfortable. The bellman was so helpful, giving us tips of where to go for dinner and getting us cabs. The club level breakfast, complimentary with our stay, was ok - nothing fabulous, but it definitely filled us up for a good day of siteseeing. Lobby was modern, perfectly clean, and the concierge helpful in getting us where we wanted to go on our adventures for the days. The Byzantine restaurant was delicious, but overpriced and a little stuffy for us - although the service was impeccable. We would absolutely stay at the Athens Hilton again should we ever find ourselves in Greece again. It was the perfect start to a fabulous honeymoon!

Away from downtown: the Acropolis and Plaka though not very far;; but lets you escape the mass of tourists who only have one day in the city.

Hotel is clearly a 5 star property with a great fitness center, pool and outdoor bar/restaurant on the roof overlooking the Acropolis. The hotel is a solid 25 minute walk from Plaka and the Acropolis. One will take taxis everywhere if staying in this hotel as it is quite a distance from the popular sites and areas. The Metro stop is a 5 minute walk from the hotel and the Athens Metro is easy to figure out even if one doesn't speak or read the Greek language. There are other hotel choices much more central that I would chose if returning to Athens.
For trip planning purposes, one can see all of the sites of Athens in 1 1/2 days. No need to stay longer, as there is nothing to do or see once the popular sites have been visited.
