“Great Stay”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 21 September 2009

Views of the Acropolis from your room, this is a great hotel in a great location. Modern decor, friendly front desk, awesome breakfast buffet. Convenient walk to restaurants and metro. Huge outdoor pool. Must visit the rooftop bar.

I stayed at this hotel for 5 nights all on points. I was upgraded to the concierge level and could not have had a nicer room - as I later found out when I stayed at other hotels in Greece. The room was large, had my own private balcony, large bathroom, with a great soaking tub. My room had a view of the acropolis. Since I was here in August, I would hit the sites int he Am and in the later afternoon/evening. In the mid day, I would lay out by the pool. It was a quick metro ride to Syntagma square... or abt a 15-20 min walk. I would defintely stay at the hotel again.....

Excellent hotel, very close to the Syntagma Place and all the major tourist sites. Large swimming pool in front of the hotel. Service and rooms as expected for the Hilton chain.
Recommended for any type of trips if you can afford it.

Stayed here for 4 days recently: a mix of business and pleasure. Travelling with my teenage son and I was looking for a safe pool area where he couls spend a day on his own. Overall it was a pleasant experience and got a good deal on their website for an executive (Acropolis facing) room.

Brief comments that could be of use
location - a little far to walk to historic centre but metro station nearby> Athens Metro is good, clean, modern and cheap (post-Olympics)...all that London Underground is not.

room - very nice, clean, modern and with balcony. Everything worked but wi-fi access a rip-off

reception - weak spot of Hotel. Far too few staff for a hotel of this size and everything took ages.....I saw airline staff threatening to leave without paying because process so drawn out> Add more staff !

Executive club room - very nice with adequate breakfast. Worth paying a little more for access here

Pool - large and safe. Busy at w/e but not during week. Good poolside bar.

Galaxy Bar/Restaurant - bar is a noisy 'meat market': a trendy pick-up joint. Restaurant is better with good food (try hot stone DIY) and great views: worth trying but book ahead. Food was a lot better than at Grande Bretagne even if view there is more magical (very poor Italian food)

So do not be put off by cavernous and sterile entrance hall (what a waste of space !) as Hilton is actually OK.

We were able to get a "sale price" on our room for 3 nights. I had seen some reviews saying the staff there was unpleasant, so I was apprehensive. It turned out that the staff was great--very gracious and helpful. And the room was very nice. As others have pointed out, though, make sure that the "full" buffet breakfast is included in the price of your room. The posted price in the breakfast area was something like 30 euros. One or two other people have noted that there are reasonably priced restaurants behind the hotel. Thanks for that info--we had dinner twice at the Agora Ilision. The cost was reasonable, the food good, and the servings were enough for two meals.

My husband and I stayed at this Hilton for just 1 night in Athens before departing to Santorini. The hotel is very nice and near many attractions. We stayed on club level and were thrilled with the room and view and most importantly the free drinks and appetizers. We ended up just eating snacks there instead of going out to dinner. Wish we could have stayed there longer. The pool looked really nice but we didn't get to enjoy it. Would definitely stay there again if we go back to Athens.

We stayed here the day we flew into Athens. And what's the number one thing you want after a 9 hour plane flight? A hot shower. This one was dreamy. The lobby looks like something out of South Beach...but the more I saw of Greece and the islands I'm realizing South Beach took that look from the older country. :) The front desk was helpful with directions. The roof deck bar/restaurant has a spectacular sunset view but proper dress is required. Thank goodness my hubby had a spare dress of mine in his suitcase because U.S. Air lost my luggage, which means I could not enjoy their amazing pool because I did not have a swim suit either. If you want a view of the Acropolis/ pool or a queen/king bed though, you'll have to ask for it specifically. Try the ginger cocktail -- unlike anything I've ever tasted. Expensive, but you're really paying for the view.
