“great hotel in a great location”
Reviewed 11 July 2010

I guess the title says it all - it's a hotel worth staying in! Spacious rooms, interesting design, private balcony (a bit noisy though when sitting outside) and friendly staff. The only con I would say are the prices - 12 EUR for a 0.2l beer in a hotel bar sounds a bit steep... though I start to think that whole Athens are too expensive for what you get.
Anyway, if you look for a comfortable and good place to stay in Athens plus you have some money to spend ;) - this is the Hotel for you

I recently travelled to athens to spend 5 days holiday with my partner. Being a Hilton Employee based at the Brighton branch, I took advantage of a great rate i was given to come here. I felt as I was paying less, I would be treated accordingly -how wrong i was! We were treated very well, almost like VIPs in certain areas, and couldnt get over how amazing our stay was. we were very sad to leave, but were very grateful to all the staff who had made our stay such a pleasant one. We are now looking to spend a week there in 2011!

We stayed at the Hilton only one night but have to say that it is a really good value. The check in staff was very helpful and accommodating. The pool is very large and popular even with locals from Athens. The breakfast was very large and good. Having said that in room movies were overpriced at €20 and also the internet was very expensive at €15. The hilton was what we expected: A clean place in central location with good rooms and good service.

Athens Hilton is in an excellent location near the American embassy with spectacular views of the Acropolis from many rooms. Located close to the Evangelismos metro station on the airport line and also the fashionable Kolanaki district. The Lycabetos hill iand its funicular atram are also close by. Some of the best museums are a short walk away including one right next door.
The great bits of the hotel are the Hilton brand of luxury yet including the Greek hospitality! We were a person extra - but they adjusted us with a foldaway bed at no extra cost . The Breakfast is probably one of the best spreads I have seen in Europe with a variety of continental, east european and eastern dishes apart from the freshly orderable usuals! Wide variety of cheeses (not just the local feta)and smoked fish and other variety cuts and fruits - several types of olives. One of the originals was Honey with the beeswax attached!
Rooftop Galaxy bar has an inimitable ambience and spectaucalr night views! Extremely useful was the large conference facilities, business centre and the health centre.
Dont miss the avant garde sculpture of glass sheets looking like an athlete in the wind!

We stayed here our last night of our 2 weeks in Greece before we flew home. The hilton is a very nice hotel with room that have an incredibly soft bed and a nice luxurious bathroom! This hotel is rather expensive, and not as close to Plaka or the Acropolis as I would have liked, but we did have a rather decent view of the Acropolis (fairly far away) from our balcony. The staff were very helpful and the hotel was in pristine condition. There was an event by the pool the night we stayed here, and even though the glass door to our balcony was supposed to be sound proof, nothing can be THAT sound proof to keep out the music and noise.

Be warned this hotel charges big money for everything. A beer is 9.5 euros, Wifi is another 20 euros, breakfast was 30 euros each, etc. So if you are on a business trip and can expense that ridiculousness, that's great. If you are on vacation and this is YOUR money, I would find a better value in a better location.

Would like to stress out that staff at executive lounge is one of the worst - you will be able to see empty botles, unclean tables and poor selection of food in the lounge while staff is chating to each other...

Lounge is worth 2** out of 5***** in terms of quality while the rooms are nice.

Other hotel ameneties are fine.

I have been at many hotels, from 3 to 5 stars, in all over the world either for business or for leisure. However, I never had so bad experience with the breakfast such as at the Athens Hilton. I am a Silver Vip Hilton Honors member and this hotel chain is one of my prefered for stay either in Athens or in any city of the world. For example, from January 2010 until now I had 3 stays in Athens Hilton (a total of 6 nights). My overall opinion for this hotel was positive: a very good hotel, with very modern look after its extensive renovation 6 years ago (I already have posted a review 2 years ago). However, during my stays in this year, I noticed some minor problems with the breakfast. These problems became major during my last 2-night stay in June 2010. In the first morning of my present stay (Saturday) I went to the Byzantine restaurant of the hotel where breakfast is served, at 10.30 am (breakfast is served from 6.00 to 11.00 am): Some items (potatoes, cheese) had finished, and me and other clients waited for about 6 - 7 minutes to replenish them. Anyway, not so big problem. However, next morning (Sunday) at 11.40 am, the same problem was repeated in enormous way: A lot of people staying in front of the buffet, watching the empty plates: no bacon, no potatoes, no eggs, nothing! We asked about this a member staff. He said: "you must wait for about 15 - 20 minutes" to replenish the totally empty plates of the american breakfast buffet. Ridiculous for a 5-star hotel which is ...proud (as is writen on its brochure) for the ""unique Hilton Breakfast experience". Really, this was an unique experience, which I never have seen in any hotel in the world.
