“Great apartment - would definitely stay again!”
Reviewed 10 July 2009 for a stay in June 2009

I can only echo what other travellers have written on here - this is a wonderful place with a very organized, warm, and responsive host (Carole). I originally found this apartment because my husband and I were looking for suites in order to better travel with our 2 teenagers. This apartment was spacious, well equiped, comfortable, clean, and well priced. We could not have asked for anything better! The Beds are comfortable, the bathrooms were modern, and the washer and dryer were a lifesaver when the airlines lost our luggage! We also used the recommended Taxi driver to pick us up from and take us back to the airport and he was wonderful.

Two notes on Athens:
1. Although taxi drivers can be difficult to flag down and agree to take you anywhere, their prices are VERY affordable.
2. The new Acropolis Museum is a MUST SEE even if you're not a huge museum person. Built in the shadow of the Acropolis, and as a replica of it, the exterior of the building is all glass so that you can see ALL of Athens surrounding you.

“Can't Imagine Staying anywhere else!”
Reviewed 22 June 2009 for a stay in April 2009

As a large group of University Architecture students, we were looking for a place that our group could all stay together and Carole made that possible. The penthouses were amazing and we lived like royalty. The welcome baskets were a lovely surprise, and the accommodations as a whole were 5 star! I cannot imagine enjoying Athens half as much had we not stayed here. There is no better place to stay in Athens!

“Felt like a local”
Reviewed 20 June 2009 for a stay in June 2009

I'm pretty sure staying at this apartment helped make Athens one of the highlights of our Greece trip. While it was smaller than originally anticipated (effectively one giant room of kitchen/dining/living room and two bedrooms/two baths) -- it was the perfect size for our group of 5 friends. Carole, the owner, could not have been more helpful and responsive. We enjoyed the gorgeous roof terrace every night before heading out to dinner at 11pm. They provided some bath amenities, but if you're staying for a while, you'll need to buy the basics (toilet paper, soap, kleenex, etc.) Just like staying in a real apartment. Would stay again & again!

“Fabulous central location, within walking distance to major sites”
Reviewed 28 May 2009 for a stay in April 2009

We stayed at the Athens first penthouse and had a great experience overall. It was a little of a tight squeeze with 7 adults, but we managed pretty well. The proximity to the cafe lined Pagrati neighborhood was nice. Walking distance (a good hike) to the different historic sites (Parthenon, Temple of Zeus, and Olympic Stadium) and other attractions like the Plaka. We loved the welcome basket of goodies. There was an occasional hitch with the computer/internet services, but having it available along with free long distance calls the US was a bonus! Even though the owners were in Chicago during our visit, they were readily available via e-mail or phone when we had questions. Definitely recommend it!

“A Perfect Stay in Pagrati”
Reviewed 8 May 2009 for a stay in November 2008

This is a very tardy review of our stay in the Alpha apartment in Pagrati. First off, the owner, Carole is very good to deal with and answers emails promptly. She loves her adopted city and wants guests to also. To that end she has put together a guidebook that she really should publish. It has all the info needed for the apartment and all things to do and where to go in the area. There is a welcome basket of goodies when you arrive, a nice touch. We wondered if the apartment was really as nice as the pictures depicted it. Well, we were pleasantly surprised to find out it was on our arrival. It was spotless and clean. Soft comfy beds and linens, fluffy towels. Two separate bedrooms and bathrooms, one with a jacuzzi. Fiesta dinnerware in the kitchen along with stainless steel appliances and a large screen tv, free computer and internet and free calls to the US. Add to that a view of the Acropolis from the balcony and roof top terrace and you have an incredible apartment!! We loved it. It was nice to be able to go to the local market and buy some food and do a load of laundry if we wanted. You won't be disappointed here. One thing to be aware of though. It is a bit out of the usual tourist loop ( I think that contributes to its charm). It took us about 45 minutes to walk to the Acropolis one day. You can take a bus from the next street over and it will take you right into Syntagma Square. Or you can walk to the Evangelismos Metro station and head in that way. I found taxi drivers to be difficult. If they don't want to go where you want they just drive away. They are a very independent lot.
This apartment is in the city and you will hear traffic and horns all day and night. I don't think Greek people sleep! Even though you are six flights up you can still hear all the noise. So if you are a light sleeper just bring along some earplugs. You will be fine. The only down side that I have to comment on was our arrival. We had to wait two hours for the housekeeper to let us in to the apartment. After a few frantic phone calls from a local pay phone to the owner in Chicago the housekeeper finally arrived. ( by the way, Greek pay phones don't take coins....you have to go to the local little store on the sidewalk and buy a phone card to insert ).
You will love this apartment and I'm sure you will find that it is the best vacation rental you have ever stayed at!
