Our most memorable and pleasant evening in Athens was certainly our dinner at La Rocca Ristorante Italiano in the shadow of the Acropolis on Angelikara 1 & Ratzieri. We had a romantic evening at an outdoor table, elevated above the streets with cool evening breezes chasing the heat of the summer sun away. The service was courteous and non-rushed which suited us just fine for a relaxing evening meal. The owner, Giorgio, visited each table to welcome everyone and to ensure our wine and food choices were being attended to. The menu was a nice blend of seafood, pasta, and meat dishes complemented by good wine, innovative salads, fried olives, and fresh vegetables. The Veal Milanese was delicious, complemented by vine ripened tomatoes, fresh parmesan, and basil. It was served warm against the coolness of the tomatoes and touches of balsamic on the plate. Another standout entrée was the house ravioli of the day. Panna cotta and profiteroles were both superb dessert choices.
My daughter adds: "This is a authentic Italian cuisine find! We so enjoyed our first evening at La Rocca that we booked a table for 12 on our last evening in Greece and were just as impressed on our 2nd visit. On that occasion we shared many of the house specialties and none disappointed.
The owner, staff and service is genuine and friendly without disruption to the meal or mood. Ask for recommendations and go with them - you will not be disappointed. This gem is worthy of your most treasured company. Go go go!"
