I booked this hotel based on previous reviews and was not disappointed. Excellent location close to the Plaka area and central attractions. Excellent breakfast..

We stayed in this smart, modern hotel as a family during the Christmas week. Rooms were comfortable and clean. We had a room with a view of the Parthenon but were never in the room during daylight hours, also because we were on the 6th floor we could be seen in our room from the buildings behind the hotel if we left the net curtains open - so we didn't! Plus our intention of sitting out on the balcony gazing at the view came to nothing: too cold, only one balcony chair, and the so-tiny balcony looks into the windows of the building behind. Maybe we should have asked for the 7th floor room? Our kids had a room looking the other way, over the Temple of Zeus and the road. But, being teenagers they never even opened their net curtains to look! Next time we stay I won't bother to ask for rooms with views. Especially as all you have to do is pop upstairs to the restaurant/bar for the best uninterrupted views in both directions: gorgeous: great for breakfast, dinner, or just hanging out with drinks for a chat. Restaurant staff are nice and friendly. Desk staff were also friendly and helpful; they were happy to stow our bags for one night whilst we went north to visit the Meteora. (Booked George Kokkotos for Argolis & Meteora trips - brilliant, we highly recommend him!: www.taxigreece.com) The hotel is in the perfect location for sightseeing, meals out, etc: we thoroughly recommend it and will stay here any time we are in Athens again.

Room Tip: If you are going to spend any time in your room (other than sleeping) maybe ask for a 7th floor room...

Great location, excellent staff, fantastic view but OMG, we had an executive suite (with the price to match) which had a view and large balcony but the room had only enough room for a queen bed and that was it! We had to place our bags in such a way that we had enough room to walk around the bed! Nice bathroom but you were on display to the whole of Athens when it was dark and the light was on!! Will stay again but the rooms are small.

Room Tip: Yes but the rooms were small.

The Athens Gate is a very pleasant hotel, convinent to the Acropolis, Agor and the Platka. The restaurant and bar at the top has unparalleled views of Partheon and the Temple of Zeus, in fact most of the rooms face one or the other. The restaurant has a good fixed prixe dinner with wine included. The rooms have balconies and are well furnished. We would go back again.

Room Tip: Although the rooms facing the Zeus are on a main street, the rooms are quiet and you can watch the s...

Beautiful views of the Acropolis from their rooftop restaurant (where breakfast is served everyday). we booked opera tickets online and the hotel staff was very friendly by calling the opera several times to check some details. You are at a walking distance from attractions, nice restaurants and an excellent jazz bar in the area (Half note jazz bar), and has a subway close to the hotel, in case you need to take it. It is easy to find as it is close to Acropolis and infront of Zeus Temple. The rooms are clean and nice, and some have views of the Zeus temple and others of the Acropolis. This is a specially nice view at night when attractions are illuminated.

Room Tip: ask for a room with views to the acropolis.

A warm welcome greets you as you enter. Questions and quieres answered promptly and with a smile. We were booked on a very good short break deal so did not expect room with view. Room and service up to high standard with everything that you would expect from 4 star Hotel. Excellant postion for transport to and from airport, and within easy walking distance of major attractions. If possible get a private guide for the New Acropolis musuem and the the Acroplolis, So much more informatioin then doing it on your own. Great selection of restaurant and bars in the Plaka district, adjacent to the hotel. Breakfast in the Roof Garden Restaurant is like sitting in a glass bowl not believing what you can see, to one side the Acropolis, to the other Lycabettus Hill and then Fillpappos Hill and everything else inbetween. History on a plate! And the service is there is match.Good breakfast selection , hot and cold, and you are not pushed to leave your view. Every table has a view of one monument or another. If you just want a drink pre dinner then the bar is also situated there and we enjoyed the views all lite up. Thank you Athens Gate for making our stay so enjoyable.

Room Tip: Our rooms were looking into a shaft. No problem for us.As we enjoyed the views from elsewhere

The Athens Gate Hotel was wonderful! My husband and I stayed here on the first leg of our honeymoon trip...the week of a few strikes throughout Athens in October. Well, aside from a fabulous dinner in the rooftop restaurant, wonderful continental breakfasts up there, and the phenomenal view from every angle of the hotel, the staff is fantastic. From Athens we had plans to fly to Crete, but the day we were meant to leave there was an air traffic controller strike. I ran down to the lobby to secure another night in the hotel, and they not only booked us for the same room we were in, but they even arranged a shuttle to the airport at 3am the next morning so we could get to the airport without issue (there were also transit strikes). When they reinstated our original flight to Crete, the hotel was great with cancelling our extra night at the hotel and arranging a new shuttle for us. They were amazingly helpful. Plus, the hotel is in a location that makes all of the sites of Athens easily accessible. No need to hop on the Metro...you can walk! We would definitely stay here again!

Room Tip: You can see the Acropolis from one side of the hotel, and the Temple of Olympian Zeuss from the othe...
