Only stayed one night for a weekend break but wished we had longer! Lovely hotel. Perfect location: 3 mins walk to the Acropoli metro station / 10 mins walk to the Acropolis / 2 mins to the Temple of Zeus (right across the road) and 5 mins to Syntagma Square (for the changing of the guard etc).

As we were arriving late and leaving early we booked an 'internal view' room which was spacious, modern and very clean.

The other reviewers are right - the restaurant has one of the best views of any restaurant. Breakfast itself was adequate - the hot options were a bonus - but the view was spectacular.

Fast wifi internet was available in the rooms (4€ per hour / 16€ for 24 hours etc) but free wifi is provided in the lobby and the restaurant/bar as are two free computers in the lobby bar with a printer - good for printing boarding passes etc

Hotel was happy to secure our luggage whilst we went out sightseeing (stored securely - not in a pile in the lobby like some hotels!)

If we return to Athens we will return to this hotel!

Room Tip: All rooms appear good size. You largely pay for the views. Those at front mainly had shower only (ju...

Just stayed here again for the fourth year running - I teach out in Athens once a year and use this as my base for the weekend. The hotel is very clean, the rooms are good and views beautiful. I really can't fault it - the staff are so lovely and you get an excellent breakfast with an unrivalled view of one of the most amazing ruins in the world.

If you need to stay in Athens for just one night or make more a holiday, I would always go the Athens Gate. It's an easy walk to so many lovely places and some excellent restaurants just minutes from your door.

We have just returned from a 4 night stay at the Athens Gate - Excellent in every way! As it was a 'big' birthday we had emailed the Hotel in advance to ask if we could upgrade our room so we could have a view of the Temple of Zeus which is opposite. This was accommodated and ALSO on arrival we found a bottle of wine and a fruit basket in our room with the compliments of the Management, what a lovely start. Breakfast in the morning from the Rooftop Restaurant is spectacular. Hotel is in a perfect location for exploring the Ancient city and on a Friday the Acropolis Museum is open until 10pm which helps when planning your itinerary (many sites close at 3pm on a Saturday so be careful what time you plan lunch). We hopped on the red sightseeing bus (blue line) to Pireaus and jumped off at Stop No 4 which was a great move as we ate lunch at one of the harbour restaurants and watched the fisherman hang out their nets. If we had hopped off before or later we may have been disappointed. Back in town we ate at a great little family run restaurant in La Plaka called Scholarhio (Tripodon 14, Plaka) which was superb and great value, some of La Plaka restaurants are a little of a rip off for tourists we reckoned. Stay at the Athens Gate you will not be disappointed.

An amazing view of the city from the hotel's roof garden where we ate breakfast. The rooms were small and very average but very close to the Acropolis. We chose the hotel because of its proximity to the historic district of Athens.

We arrived at 2am worried that our room would be given away or that they would have forgotten about us. T the contrary, they welcomed us with cold water, Turkish delight and a seamless check in. We weren't there for probably all of 5 minutes and then taken to our rooms so we could pass out after a days work and evenings travel. The hotel is modern and clearly been refurbished recently, the rooms are a decent size and the bathrooms are a decent size too. I believe each room has a balcony and our room faced the Temple of Zeus which was directly opposite us - so much so that we very nearly did not go visit due to the uninterrupted view of its ground. Makes for great photos. The only difficulty facing this side is that you will get a fair amount of road noise - we were tempted to ask to be moved but we just kept forgetting to ask until we were already trying it I go to sleep.

The restraint upstairs (reviewed separately) also had rival views of the same temple Gardens and on the other side, the Acropolis. It is perfect for night time shots (with review in due course). The breakfast is pretty good with cooked options and some continental options including Greek pastries, yoghurt, honey and fruit.

The service / staff here is very knowledgeable and friendly. On more than one occasion they made reservations for us, they told us when we did not need bookings, gave us directions, helped organise ferries to Santorini, called taxis - it's hard to think what we would have done without them.

We would definitely return and the price of the rooms we thought were very competitive given the quality of the hotel. The location is also very central with about a 5-10 walk to the Plaka, same to the Parliament, about 15 to the entrance of the Aropolis and the same to Monastriki/Roman Agora. Great restaurants nearby and bars too.

We went to this hotel just recently in February. It was in the Times paper(UK paper) for the best 100 budget hotels in the world and got a great price to go out of season.

It was out of season and was upgraded to a superior room, as it was quiet, which was a great start. They also offered us water and on arrival.

This hotel has the best location in Athens. I have attached a picture to show you just how close it is to the Temple of Zeus and the Acropolis(the hotel is on the left of the picture). Restaurants in Plaka are a few minutes away as you walk behind the hotel.

The rooms are modern and have nice showers with flat screen TVs, so no problems there either

The rooftop restaurant is the other added bonus of this hotel. The view is amazing and we were even able to sit outside in February overlooking the whole of Athens. The only slight problem was the restaurant at night was closed, due to some problem with the electricity board, which was a shame as we wanted to eat there.

The breakfast is very good qualilty. With bacon, sausage, eggs(really nice runny ones) or pastries, greek yoghurt, fruit, cheeses, cold meats etc. Even the Juices were very fresh and the coffee very nice.

Hotel is 10-15 min walk from the bus stop where you get the X95 from/to the aiport for 5 euros each. There is no need to get a taxi....

Excellent location, very close to the Acropolis, Acropolis museum, syntagma square, the temple of Zeus and Plaka.
The views are amazing. From the rooftop restaurant/bar, you can see the Acropolis, Syntagma Square, the Temple of Zeus, which is right across from the hotel. From the room (facing the front of the hotel) there is a excellent view of this temple, amazing!
The staff are also very nice, smiley and accommodating. The reception gave us excellent tips on where to go, especially where to eat. They also gave us a free upgrade due to it being low season.
The food at the restaurant at the roof garden is very good. It is a Greek cuisine with an international twist.
Unfortunately, the wifi is not free (except for at the rooftop restaurant), however, there is free access to computers (with Internet) in the reception area.
In sum, I highly recommend it, and would definitely stay there again.
