My wife & I stayed at the Athens Gate Hotel last Saturday June 14 for one night following our Windstar cruise.
We disembarked the cruise boat at around 8:30AM and taxied directly to the hotel.
Our room wasn't ready at 9AM so the hotel held our baggage for the day while we toured.
Athens Gate is in a great location with easy 5 to 10 minutes walks to the Acropolis, the old Agora, the Acropolis museum, Hadrian's Gate & Zeus ruins.
Also we walked around the Plaka, had a wonderful lunch al fresco & returned to the hotel around 15:30.
Our room was on floor one with a balcony.
The room was clean & comfortable and the hotel staff were very accommodating.
Breakfast on Sunday morning was a real treat, good food plus a view to die for of the Acropolis.
Highly recommend the Athens gate Hotel.

We stayed in a nice suite that had two terraces on either side. One overlooked the Temple of Olympian Zeus, the other had a great view of the Acropolis. Bed was comfortable, the staff was very friendly and accommodating. The rooftop bar is beautiful in the evening with beautiful views of the Acropolis lit up. Breakfast was lovely! We enjoyed our stay!

Stayed here the night before a cruise. Just a terrific location, right in the center of everything (Placa, Acropolis, Acropolis museum, Syntagma). Very friendly staff, and possibly the best view in Athens from the rooftop restaurant/bar. Nearly every room also has a view, except for two, which have views of a wall and a stairway. Guess which one we got because we booked through Hotels.com?
If you have even a touch of claustrophobia, you will hate the narrow, tiny elevators, which are about the size of two phone booths placed side by side. The spectacular rooftop restaurant has an amazing view, but the food is so-so. My recommendation is to come here for drinks and a spectacular sunset, then get dinner somewhere else.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a view, so you don't end up in one of the two dungeons like we did.

We stayed our last day in Athens here. The view was so wonderful from the rooftop as well as our room we did not want to leave the hotel. The walkway to the main attractions are around the corner. We had spent the week touring and
we're exhausted and were really happy to stay here as an ending to our trip. The other places we stayed were very good, but this was the icing on the cake. Book early! We waited and had to find other places to stay.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a view, but any room would be good because the location is great. Higher up is b...

Super location, service and breakfast experience on the roof terrace. Good room facilities. Lifts are cosy but not a problem. Lots to see, all in walking distance.

Had fun on Segway tour.

Dined at Psaras at Euro60 for two, including good sparkling wine at Euro30 and at Ta Kafeveio, located opposite of church on 14 Tripodon Street – highly recommend!

We flew into Athens to begin our 22 day tour of Europe. The Athens Gate Hotel was recommended to us and we sure were not disappointed. I cannot emphasize enough what a superb location this hotel has. We were in walking distance to everything we wanted to see in Athens. Our small, but nice room, had a terrace balcony with a table and two chairs. From our terrace we had an awesome view of the Acropolis which was lit up at night. You could easily see the Parthenon. The rooms on the other side of the hotel have a view of the Temple of Olympian Zeus which has many tall columns still standing.
On the very top of the hotel is indoor-outdoor rooftop bar and restaurant with more wonderful views of the old city. This rooftop restaurant is where they served their very nice breakfasts. Our full breakfast was included with our hotel reservation.
The free Wi-Fi was only available in the hotel lobby which had a quite nice waiting area with couches, chairs and a few tables.
The staff at the Athens Gate was very personable. There are many very nice restaurants and outdoor cafes within easy walking distance.
So, if you like to walk, and location is what you're in to, you will not do any better than the Athens Gate Hotel.
It is a very good place to stay.

Room Tip: Ask for a room on the Acropolis side of the hotel for a great view.

I stayed there 2 nights for business.
The staff was really cool, even patient and waiting for me to finish my beer while the bar was supposed to be closed.
Rooms where absolutely clean, very nice corridors, and perfect location.
