This hotel is near acropolis metro and museum and short walk to the acropolis. Bar and restaurant on the rooftop is fantastic with a great view of the acropolis, amazing at night. Rooms clean, staff friendly and knowledgeable. Buffet breakfast is also good. We were really happy overall with the position, staff, food and accommodation.

Room Tip: Floor above 1st would be good

I reserved this 4 star hotel mostly for its location and beautiful terrace facing the Acropolis.
I also picked the most expensive room from the several offerings for this hotel on Expedia, to try to get a really nice room (over 140 Euros by the way).

Unfortunately, when we got there, we were first given a room on the first floor facing the street, and thus very noisy.
After complaining we were switched to another 1st floor room facing a back wall, no view but less noisy. Apparently all the rooms on the top floor were taken.

Worse, when we tried to go to the terrace, we found out it was closed due to a private event. Nice, real nice: the hotel makes extra money from the event, but we don't get what we paid for.

After we came back from the Cyclades for one final night in Athens, needless to say we did not pick this hotel. In fact we chose another four star hotel which cost exactly half, where the rooms were as nice and where we did enjoy the terrace.
So not worth the money

Dear Clarencephil

Thank you for taking time to write a review about your stay. I was disappointed to learn of the issues you experienced, concerning your room. Your reservation was for a superior double room, which is explicitly described in our website in order for our guests to be absolutely informed. Also, through our website one may find offers when booking a room.

I apologize for the inconvenience regarding the access to our roof top terrace this one specific night; private events are an absolute exception, occuring very rarely if not at all, exactly because we value our guests and wish to offer them the best of our hotel.

Yet, that same evening, our guests could still enjoy the same Acropolis view at the outdoor jacuzzi lounge [4th floor] and, strech out on the chaises-longues and order drinks from the cocktail bar. The olive garden deck area also provides the same services and view. As always, dinner reservations could be made at the ATRIUM Restaurant of our hotel. It is unfortunate that you did not enjoy one or all of these options

Nonetheless, as we are very proud of our extraordinary terrace, let me invite you to join us for a drink next time you are in Athens.

We have staid in a number of different hotels in Athens over the years, but somehow always missed the Herodion. Well, no more, this will be our hotel of choice going forward. The views from the roof terrace are spectacular, the breakfast is very nice, and the rooms are clean and functional.
The service is just a nice and efficient as you would expect from a 4 or 5 star class hotel, but the pricing is more in line with a 3 star in Athens.
Our room (319) had a balcony with a beautiful view of the Acropolis, beds where comfy and the hotel was pleasantly quiet. If you can, go for the Acropolis view rooms, as the street in front (Rovertou Galli) is fairly busy (gets used by a lot of the buses to get to the Acropolis entrance, since they turned Dionysiou Areopagitou into a pedestrian only street)
Trip to the airport on Monday morning at 7:30 AM took only about 40 minutes and cost €35 (flat rate)

Room Tip: Pay extra for the Acropolis view, you will end up with a very quiet room Try for a room on the 3rd...

Since I am a Greek that has lived in England for the last 13 years I visit Athens in a regular basis. I have never stayed there since I stay at my folks house but my wife's family stayed there and they loved it (they are from England).
I had the great pleasure of having a meal at their restaurant at the roof terrace. The food was absolutely fabulous and very well priced. The view from the roof terrace is mind blowing and is something that you have to see with your own eyes. Dining while the sun sets and watching the Acropolis lighted up just a few meters away is an experience you will never forget. Let's be honest, there are not many places in the world where you could do something similar. I ordered the carbonara that has a bit of a Greek twist. It was second to none and I have been to Italy and ordered this dish plenty of times. My wife's family and my friends really enjoyed their food as well.
Altogether I think this is a MUST visit restaurant for a night out in Athens. The combination of great food, astonishing view and friendly service together with the fact that the food is very reasonably priced make it an experience you will always remember.
Thank you Herodion Hotel for such a nice night.

This hotel has an excellent location. It is right next to the Acropolis Museum, near the Parthenon, near many dining options and just around the corner from the Acropolis Metro station. The hotel has an excellent terrace with a fantastic view of the Parthenon. The terrace is a very memorable place to relax and have some drinks.

The staff are friendly and the breakfast is good. The hotel is a little tired and it could probably do with revamp in some areas. Wi-Fi is free but it is only available on the ground floor and lobby area but not available in your rooms.

It was a pleasure to have you staying at HERODION and I am happy to read that everything was to your satisfaction. WiFi is available throughout the hotel, even on the top floor terrace and also four personal computers and a printer are available for use by our clients, free of charge in the lobby area. We address our hotel with respect to its needs, therefore no time goes by without serious renovation and improvement efforts; I am sorry to read that you got the impression of our hotel being tired. It will be my pleasure to welcome you back in support to the above!

This hotel is located right next to the acropolis museum. It's a smaller boutique hotel. Doorman took our bags and they checked us into our room even though to was morning and well before check-in. Our room was small but typical for Europe. The room was nice and the beds were comfortable. The hallways were a bit worn and very dark which made me a little worried about the room but once in the room it was nice. The roof deck bar and restaurant has an amazing view of the acropolis. The lobby is very nice with a cool restaurant that has a tree growing inside and up through the roof. They do have 2 jacuzzi's which are also nice. Would stay here again.

Dear Bouty42

We are very proud to have earned a promise of return! Our views are really exceptional, and being a hotel in the centre of a big city, and particularly in its core area, the architect decided to create rooms with ample sun-light, thus having the corridors acting as backbone to the building. Hence the somewhat dark impression! But apart form that practicality, yes, we even have trees growing in side the ATRIUM restaurant with its glass roof top!

We only stayed 1 night here on our return trip to Athens before we left greece... and I wish we had stayed here as well for the first part of our trip. The hotel was very nice, beautifully decorated, decent size room, comfortable bed (although we had just come from Santorini, and our hotel there had very firm beds, so i might be a little biased on how soft the bed was, lol!) The shower was nice size comparatively also. The view from the hot tub was amazing! And breakfast was a nice assortment, hot and cold. I was especially happy that they served loukamades (sp?) the little greek donuts! And the location was awesome. Just around the corner from the acropolis museum and Plaka, the main shopping square. We'd definitely stay again!
