This hotel is located right at the foot of the Acroplis and near to the Place with a stop for the hop on, hop off, tourist bus just about right outside. The hotel staff are excellent, nothing is too much trouble. Agree with others comments that it would be good to have breakfast in the Atrium. Good value for money, small but comfortable rooms. As usual for a city centre hotel you can't expect piece and quiet! very clean room and public areas. If you want to do lots of sight seeing and culture then this is the place for you. If you want a relaxing quiet break, don't go to a city centre hotel.

The Herodian Hotel exactly matches its description. Located steps from Plaka, Hadrian's Gate, the newly-opened Acropolis Museum and the modern subway built for the Olympic Games, it offers the traveler the perfect starting place for exploring this historic city. Attractively maintained since its renovation, many of the rooms (including one of ours) offers unobstructed views of the Acropolis. One of the highlights is the awesome experience of sitting up on the Roof Garden and looking directly at the Acropolis and the top floor of the Acropolis Museum! The staff was friendly, welcoming and the restaurant offers tasty meals at a great price. Great rates, excellent value for price.

We were there at the beginning of July and room cost was about $189.00. No view.... Noisy street, small room and breakfast was acceptable. There is a terrific restaurant next door and a rip off souvenir shop on the corner.( I watched him overcharge everyone who went in then spoke to him in greek. He had the grace to be flustered.)
The staff at the hotel are aloof until I started chatting them up in greek at which point they all became friendly. This is a BUS STOP hotel. Whole buses of tourists on tour get dumped here...you get the idea. PLus side it is right around the corner from the new museum which is amazing and not to be missed.

I have to agree with other reviews this hotel is not a 4 star more like 3-2.Good location to see the acropolis thats the only good point.Breakfast not worth getting up for even though its in the price.Room Horrible on 1st floor, small and a horrible green, air com did not work, plastic toilet seat,I am sure there are nicer hotels for the same price £210 for 3 nights.I would not recommend this hotel.
Be careful of muggers and pickpockets on the metro

Unfortunately have to agree with much of the previous reviews. Booked hotel thru BA website on a special offer. I chose this hotel as I saw its proximity to the Acropolis & the roof terrace was an extra bonus.
Our room was facing the street - we didnt pay any extra for a view so kinda expected! Overall the stay was OK but not what i would expect from a 3 or 4 * hotel. Our room had various faults - the aircon only blew out warm air even on minimum setting. The volume on the TV only went up a 3rd of the way so on some channels it was practically inaudiable. The stool had a leg practically falling off. A couple of the towels were coming apart. The toiletories were quite cheap. The bed was really comfortable and at least queen size.
The breakfast is nothing special - the cooked breakfast everyday was warm, the quality of food was average but there was a good quantity of everything. The juices all watered down or cordials.
The staff were quite lax in clearing up the tables so people were standing around waiting for cleared tables & they didnt make much effort to clean up as there was still crumbs & mess from previous occupiers.
I overheard a couple of people complaining about the quality of their evening meals in the restaurant.
The roof terrace is great... it was lovely to chillout. The view is spectacular - especially at night. Didnt use the jacuzzis - i think 5 euros for 15mins is a bit steep.
Dont agree with paying to use a room safe, we did use the internet - 2 euro for 30 mins.
The bar prices are quite reasonable & the barman was very helpful and friendly.
The location is good - better instructions on getting to the hotel would help we took the metro & had to get some help to find it... however its only a few minutes walk. The new Acropolis museum is worth a visit - its only a euro & its only round the corner too.
Won't be coming back to this hotel.
