“Great Stay besides Acropolis”
Reviewed 21 January 2014

One of the best romantic hotels I have ever been to. Wonderful building, great interiors, elegant decors and well-equipped rooms. The Hotel offers a wonderful view of the Acropolis museum and is just a few minutes’ walk. The Acropolis Metro stop is very near too, which is great in case one needs to travel around the city. The ambience within the Hotel is very romantic. The staff offered a wide range of complimentary goodies starting from free champagne to chocolates. They also offered a free drop to the airport. Rooms were perfect and so were the bathrooms. The food was moderately fine though we did not have too many square meals at the Hotel. The front desk was very helpful and helped us with a local tourist guide at some very competitive rates.

My family and I stayed at Philippos Hotel in mid August. It is located in a very convenient location of Athens that is very close to the main attractions with all the main ones in walking distance. The staff members were very friendly and so helpful recommending all the best places for us to go. The rooms were clean yet perhaps a little out of date (the TV etc could do with an update, yet Athens is such a beautiful city with so much to see and do that you really don’t need the TV). The breakfast bar they had was EXCELLENT and we ate plenty! The price to stay here was most reasonable and we will gladly stay here again when we return in 2015.

The English speaking staff is very responsive. When I had an early flight they provided an early breakfast. Also, I had brought to Greece more than I wanted to carry along to Delphi and Naxos and they kindly stored a duffel for me for a week. I stayed two nights at the beginning of my trip and another at the end. The second floor room at the back of the hotel had a view of the Parthenon. It is an easy walk to the Acropolis, Plaka and a bit further to the Botanical Gardens which are an oasis of green within a busy city. Standard cold breakfast but with hard-boiled eggs, good bread, coffee and fruit. Spacious breakfast room looking out on a charming street. Adequate shower. Moderate price. Would stay again.

Room Tip: Upper floor rooms at the back have Acropolis view.

The Philippos Hotel has a great location, with all of the major tourist attractions within a 20 minute walk. Acropolis and Plaka are less than a 10 minute walk away. The staff at the hotel are very helpful and polite. Breakfast is included, and is quite good with an excellent choice but most dishes are repeated. The hotel is located in a very quiet, safe street, and there is a supermarket nearby. The rooms and toilets aren't massive, but are more than adequate. WiFi is available, for a small fee. The metro is very close to the hotel, so you can get around Athens in a tick! If we were ever to go back to Athens, then we would definitely stay here again!`

I really liked this hotel. It has great location (walking distance to Acropolis, Metro Station, Monastiraki, Syntagma Square), very friendly and helpful staff (they even kept our luggage after check out because we had the plane in the evening and we wanted to take a tour to Piraeus), clean room and bathroom (including towels and bed linen), good breakfast (fresh fruits, yoghourt, cereals, boiled eggs, ham, cheese, butter, tea, coffee etc.). The room and bathroom are not very big, but it didn't really bothered us because we spent the time enjoying Athens and not judging the size of the room. :)

Dear Andreea_Tollie

“We really liked this hotel …”; we thank you for sharing your experience of our hotel on Tripadvisor. As greatly understood and underlined by you, hotels in such exceptional central-historic-areas as ours, are mainly distinct for virtues doing justice to their location, in which case the size of the room becomes a relative issue! Do stay in touch through our web site and keep informed on packages and traveling offers.

Dear Yannis K

Thank you for your review and comments about our location and quality of service. I have been informed that both the single rooms you had were with balcony and especially one of them had the best view of the Acropolis. We would be glad to have you back in case of revisiting Athens, in which case, before booking, do not hesitate to visit our website and discover offers of traveling packages. We wish you a Happy New Year.
