“super clean and close to everything”
Reviewed 27 October 2010

They stay at Philippos was great. It was super clean and friendly. The contiental breakfast served is not the usual they really go above the reg standars. The lobby was beautiful and the front desk could answer most of our questions. Its super close to Plaka, which is great! you can stay in plaka for hours.. sit , eat and shop.

The front desk was efficient and staff had a good knowledge of English
The room and bathroom were very clean and well equipped. The bed was comfortable. The bathroom was small, but quite adequate for use by a single person. The lobby and breakfast room were bright and attractive. The location was perfect for all the city archaeological sites and for access to the excellent public transport services. There are two supermarkets and other useful shops within walking distance. The breakfast choices were satisfactory and the catering staff pleasant and helpful. The only negative comment - and it is relatively insignificant - is that internet access was somewhat confusing for the "non-expert" and the charge more than expected, 2 euro for 30 minutes.

We spent two nights at the Philippos prior to our cruise and one night afterwards. The hotel is in a great location, close enough to walk everywhere but not so close to where it is noisy outside. The staff were very friendly and extremely helpful and on our last night there we had a room with an amazing view of the Parthenon atop the Acropolis. Even though the hotel does not offer dinner service there are lots of cafes and restaurants nearby to try out. Would definitely recommend.

The hotel was clean, room was small but had nice balcony.
Breakfast offered by hotel was pretty good.
Proximity to The Acropolis was key, very close.
Within walking distance to Metro (1 1/2 blocks) which is fantastic when you have to roll your luggage on cobblestone sidewalks!!
We walked everywhere while staying here.
Would definitely recommend.

This hotel was just what we were looking for. Fairly "no frills" but very clean and modern with a superb location. A 5-10 min walk to the Acropolis and from Acropoli metro station. The rooms are not large and the beds are singles pushed together ïf you are looking for "one bed".

We had room at top of stairs on 2nd floor and overlooking street but had no noise issues.

Breakfast buffet was very good.....cereals and fruit type but just the right amount to get you going.

My only complaints were that they charge 1Euro/day for in room safe and charge for wifi internet access. Silly add-ons and internet would not work with iPad...said they had issues before.

Saying that, price is very good and we don't spend much time in our rooms so was all we needed.

We stayed there only one night on our way back from Mykonos. The hotel is extremely well located to explore Plaka and the Akropolis. We got a room on the 5th floor which was spacious and had a massive balcony. We had to leave for our flight at 6.30am, half an hour before breakfast service starts. They were very acommodating and prepared breakfast for us without us having to beg for that! Strongly recommend this hotel.

I booked this hotel on Priceline. I arrived with all of my confirmation codes, printouts of Internet transactions, email, etc. When I went to check out, they told me I had not paid and I needed to pay again. They insisted that my paying on Priceline made absolutely no difference--I must pay them again because they don't receive their payment from Priceline. I tried to show them the website--I tried to to reason with them. They were extremely demeaning. It was horrifying. I don't care how pretty the place is, it was our first night in Greece (on our way to Santorini--perfection!), and it was an awful beginning to our trip.
