“Nice Christmas time at this hotel”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 14 June 2011

During our stay in Athens for Christmas last year, me and my girlfriend stayed at the Electra Palace Hotel. We have chosen that hotel because of its location. We wanted to be accommodated in the central area, but yet to have quiet rooms. The hotel is placed near the pedestrian zone in Plaka and a short walk from the main square Syntagma and approximately 15 min from the Acropolis.
We were settled in a nice double room (with hard bed though!) and had breakfast buffet included in the price. The price was ok and the food was very tasty. We had a choice of American and European breakfast and everything was warm and delicious. We got a large bed and enjoyed good temperature. The weather was nice and the temperatures outside were not below 5 degrees, but still inside we needed some heating. We also got bathrobes, slippers and huge luxurious towels.
The staff was very polite to us and helped when we needed directions.
We both did not like that we had to pay for the internet, if we use it for more than half an hour. But since we were on a holiday, we decided to get a good rest and not sit in front of the computer anyway.
We did not use the swimming pool, as we didn’t want to, but there is this option as well.
Good choice for a hotel in Athens. We recommend it highly!

The hotel has a great location, average rooms and good service. The room we had was small with no view but quiet albeit next to the elevators. Room amenities included robes and the usual supplies. There was no in room coffee/tea. Internet was available as wifi in the lobby and half hour free wired in rooms, with charge for additional in room wired time. We would definitely stay at this property again.

The Electra Palace is an elegant (but not stuffy), cool oasis tucked away just steps from the Plaka (old neighborhood) and an easy walk to the Acropolis park and museums. First time visitors to Athens will appreciate the location--easy walk or metro trip to all of the major sights, plus so many great tavernas and restaurants nearby--the helpful staff can point you in the right direction. The rooms aren't huge but well-appointed, very comfortable beds and ok bathrooms. American breakfast is included in the room price. The best feature of the hotel is the beautiful rooftop infinity pool with breathtaking view of the Acropolis--you feel as if you could touch the Parthenon! Overall, a great hotel at a reasonable price.

Stayed here at the end of my honeymoon. Very nice hotel in general. Within a few minutes walk from Plaka and many of the tourist sites you'd want to see. Also only a few blocks from Syntagma Square, where you can get an express bus or the metro to the airport. (We took the metro to the hotel and the bus back. Both took about the same amount of time, but the bus is probably easier with luggage.)

Hotel service was great. Made a reservation for us at a restaurant that a friend recommended. They also delivered a bottle of wine to our room on the house. Small rooftop pool is fun, especially with its views of the Acropolis. Breakfast was above average.

The only real downside was the rooftop restaurant/bar. We went one evening to split a bottle of wine and admire the view. The rather snooty staff provided very poor service, clearly more interested in the large group ordering dinner than us.

We booked 2 rooms for 2 nights before a cruise. We choose the Electra Palace only because this is where the cruise came to pick everyone up. The hotel was very nice and very clean. The rooms were rather large for a European hotel and our balcony had a great view of the Acropolis. The breakfast was quite good. I would certainly recommend the hotel for cleanliness and location. It is a perfect location to visit the city center. We had no problems what so ever, and the staff was friendly, helpful, and efficient.

It is a little expensive, but not too bad. The price is the only reason I would not give it a full 5 stars. There is also a very nice restaurant and bar on the top floor. However we choose not to eat there becuase it is a little quiet for our tastes. We prefer the more lively restaurants on the streets which are also alot cheaper.

I would stay here again.

Room Tip: Ask for Acropolis view and balcony

We spent one night here on our way to Turkey and what a treat. The rooms were very large with balconies that looked out onto the Acropolis. The service was excellent and the location - just a block off The Plaka - was perfect. This will be my hotel in Athens going forward.

Room Tip: Ask for a room facing the Acropolis

This hotel has a great roof top pool area with views to the Acropolis. The surprise package was the reataurant on the roof top. The meal was outstanding - absolutely a gem. The standard was extremely high - there seemed to be young chefs working magic in the kitchen. The hotel itself was very clean. We had no complaints and would stay there again.
