We stayed at the Electra Palace end of April and begining of May, as part of our honeymoon. We fell in love with the place. It was clean, beautiful, and elegant. We had never been to Greece, and our hotel was right in the middle of all the shopping, history, places to eat. We walked everywhere. It is just an amazing place to stay. All the staff was very friendly and happy to help you. Breakfast in the morning, has everything youd want, and its very good!! The roof top at night while looking at the Acropolis, nothing, and i do mean nothing like it at all. We always think back to the night when it was quiet and we sat on the roof and just looked at it. We started and ended our trip at the Electra Palace, we toured some Islands in the middle. As amazing as Greece is, we loved our stay in the Electra Palace for comfort over all! Nice balcony on our room, and again, just an over all beautiful hotel. I HIGHLY suggest if you are going to Greece, to stay at this hotel!

Thank you Electra Palace for a wonderful stay during our recent visit to Athens .The attitude and service of the staff across the hotel is excellent and the staff made our time with them most enjoyable. The hotel has many large open spaces in the foyer/ good Wi fi and is very clean. The hotel location is fantastic and close to all of the main sights in Athens and right by the Plaka area , close to the Museums and only a few steps to major shopping precinct too. Our suite had a magical view of the Acropolis Hill - our family of 4 stayed in two connecting rooms which was almost like a private apartment feel, but with all the amenities and services of a top hotel. The breakfast is extensive with lots of choice and the courtyard garden area is lovely and quiet. The cafe/bar area downstairs also offers the perfect spot to meet a client. The hotel has a wonderful roof top pool and the views from there are very special. Thanks again we will be back.

Room Tip: The rooms with suotes offer terrific views and although they get a lot of sun the blinds are great...

This was our second stay at Electra in as many years. The location can't be beat.....central to Plaka and within walking distance of all the sites, shops and restaurants. We had an Acropolis view room this year with a balcony and great view of the Acropolis, especially at night. In my review last year, i complained about the rock hard beds but it seems that the hotel has begun to replace some of those mattresses as our bed this year was excellent and most comfortable. Overall, a good value with a location that can't be beat.
As a side note, Greece is obviously going through some very difficult economic times right now and tourists should be aware that the nation's anger and frustration is directed at their government and politicians.........not tourists. I say this as I'm of greek heritage with family and friends in the country and have spoken to many first hand. Don't be afraid to visit Athens but try to stay on top of the news while visiting as many of the nation's unions have and will strike with relatively short notice. Public transit and taxis have gone on strike numerous times and you may have to work around those days.

I stayed in a junior suite on the sixth floor, which was comfortable and had a balcony with great views of the Acropolis. Plaka is a good district to stay in with easy access to sites and restaurants.

The outside swimming Pool was nice though inside pool and gym tiny.

Only downside was Internet access, as in room was via paid for Ethernet connection, or free wifi in reception.

Electra Palace hotel is located in an obscure corner of Athens but once you’ve familiarize yourself with its vicinity then, you’ll realize that your still in the centre and easy to access to most of Athens tourist spots. The hotel lobby isn’t what I call grandeur despite the glitters of their lights and fixtures. This is probably because of the low ceiling. Nevertheless, it’s still welcoming and tastefully designed.

The room that I had was “Standard Double”. It was huge and spacious. It has a parquet floor with lots of carpets. The bed was comfortable, it has a living room with a window facing the garden. It has a total of 2 TVs with enough channels, mini bar, safe vault and presser for clothes.

The bathroom had a tub, generous amount of toiletries and it even had a French bidet. The towels were incessantly supplied by their courteous chambermaid.

One of the crowning jewels of this hotel is their rooftop swimming pool with the Acropolis view. The pool is not particularly big or wide. I supposed, 2 adults and a child swimming simultaneously is the maximum it can accommodate. However, this area is impressive and relaxing even if you’ll just sit down to read a book or plainly just to enjoy the sight. Not to mention, it’s quite refreshing if you take a dip on the pool while being battered by the warm weather.

Also, this hotel has an indoor swimming pool located in the basement and it also has a tiny gym. Their roof garden restaurant is quite worthy a visit for dinner or coffee and dessert not particularly for the food they served but for the ambience and the night view of the Acropolis with the rooftop swimming pool just below this restaurant.

As for the breakfast buffet, they served a lot of different choices of bread, eggs, meat, fruit, cereal, cheese, juice. But to be honest, I find most of their food bland. Perhaps their chefs needed a little inspiration.

As for internet access, this hotel would charge extra if you’ll connect to their WIFI of LAN inside your room. However, one can have free WIFI access in their public area like their lobby, garden or rooftop swimming pool.

The biggest disappointment and negative part of this hotel though, was their female receptionist named Victoria. It’s easy to identify her she wears an eyeglasses. Victoria was very unprofessional it took me more than 15 minutes just to have my room key during check in process. Even though I already had a reservation and all she needed to do was to check my documents, still, she went on to great lengths to prolong my waiting time. She was very harsh, rude and very arrogant for no apparent reason at all. She would even insist on things that should be better explained first. I can easily understand if she's having her menopausal period but at least she should have shown a little manner no matter what cultural background she came from. Further, I can tell why she was acting up during my check in because apparently she was trying to impress her student intern at the expense of my time.

All in all, I would still recommend this hotel to other travellers who wants to have a decent and worthwhile stay in Athens however please be advise during your check in or out to avoid going to their female receptionist named Victoria if you don’t want to spoil your memory of this hotel.

We stayed at the Electra Palace Hotel in Greece based on previous tripadvisor recommendations. The public rooms of the hotel were beautiful, especially the 4th floor pool area and the 5th floor roof top dining area. A FANTASTIC view of the acropolis. Also very nice was the courtyard at breakfast. The staff were extremely helpful when a "national strike" cancelled air travel plans for some members of our group. The rooms were very clean, all ammenities were present. One disappointment was the restaurant recommendation the front desk clerk gave us for dinner. We wanted to go to an authentic "taverna" and he directed us to an expensive restaurant with mediocre food. We recognized another couple from the hotel at the restaurant, and they also had asked the desk clerk for a local place.
