“What problem...?”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 7 July 2013

You never know how good hotel staff are until you have a problem. We had left a valuable item on our flight so had to track it down at the airport. Although really busy the Hotel staff negotiated all of that for us...with a smile. The concierge and doormen were the most professional and friendly I've seen anywhere in the world. Our suite was comfortable, although a little on the small side, but it did have a great balcony with a view of the slope of the Acropolis. The toiletries were Clarins products which was a nice surprise. The restaurant on the 5th Floor serves simple but tasty Greek food (lobster pasta was a standout). Service was friendly and efficient - a really relaxing evening with the dramatically lit Acropolis in the background. Breakfast is served in the beautiful garden. It's buffet-style and has good variety, although the hot dishes weren't hot.
We found great wine bars near the hotel in the Plaka district where you can sample Greek wines by the glass. Most of the bar tenders speak English and are happy to tell you about the grape varieties and regions. We would certainly come back to this Hotel

Room Tip: Ours was on the 6th floor and very quiet

We really enjoyed our stay at the Electra Palace. The staff was very professional and accommodating. Several of the front desk and door men were very helpful with taxis and their drivers and also with walking directions. The location of the hotel is ideal - in Plaka, which has wonderful restaurants/tavernas and shops. We were able to walk to the Acropolis and the new Acropolis Museum and you can also walk to Syntagma Square to see the changing of the guard. The restaurant on the rooftop was lovely and view of the Parthenon, very nice. The hostess held a great table for us :) We enjoyed our yummy homemade cocktails on the rooftop by a very sweet bartender as well. The breakfast was delicious with several options. Coffee served right away, a big plus! Wish our room was on a higher floor, but we never requested a change.

Room Tip: Request a floor above second level and away from elevators.

The hotel was central to the Plaka area. In one of the side streets.
A few minutes’ walk to catch the hop on and off bus or train to go around to main attractions.
The hotel was clean.
Rooms décor was delightful and regal.
The Breakfast had a very big variety of everything.
The front desk were so helpful and friendly.
The hotel was very well priced and was defiantly a five star hotel.
Enjoyed my stay.

Beautifully maintained hotel situated in the Plaka. Plaka is the old historical neighborhood of Athens, clustered around the northern and eastern slopes of the Acropolis, and incorporating labyrinthine streets and neoclassical architecture. It is known as the "Neighbourhood of the Gods" due to its proximity to the Acropolis and its many archaeological sites.
The immediate feeling on entering the hotel is of being welcomed . The staff are professional , yet friendly and approachable. All the staff are immaculately presented. We were always greeted with a smile!
Breakfast was a continental buffet. The food was fresh and plentiful , with the staff constantly refreshing the dishes. A pot of coffee came immediately - very important!
The room was tastefully furnished and clean. The room was cleaned in the morning so when we came back from our adventures it was neat and refreshed. We also had a balcony with table and 2 chairs. Very nice place to share a wine and watch the sunset over the Acropolis. Also glass on balcony doors are double glazed so as to keep the noise of the city out at bedtime.
A beautifully manicured internal walled courtyard was a sanctuary from the hustle and bustle of this vibrant city. A place to return to for lunch or just a beer. We had for lunch one day salmon and sea bass - delicious!
Late one afternoon we had a swim in the pool on the 4th floor. It has a view of the Acropolis. A lovely place to unwind and soak up some European sun.

Room Tip: Not all rooms have the view of the Acropolis - check when booking.

We have been staying at this hotel every year since 2004 which is great recommendation in itself. We love its location in the Plaka district and easy access to all sights on foot and its proximity to transport links. The hotel itself is very comfortable and the staff very welcoming and helpful. The rooms are very comfortable, the mini bar is well serviced, the bathrooms very clean. We've dined at the Roof Garden restaurant several times; the food and service is very good and the views to the Parthenon, especially at night, are magical. Breakfast is amazingly varied, can be taken in the restaurant or in the beautiful garden. A swim in the pool on the roof terrace with a view to the Parthenon is fabulous. We have also made use of the gym which is well equipped. We always find staying at the Electra Palace very relaxing and look forward to our next visit soon.

Room Tip: The rooms at the rear of the building are quieter.

This hotel is truly a luxury hotel, nice furnishings, marble bathroom, nice size room, bath robes, a great breakfast, and a wonderful view of the Acropolis from the rooftop pool. Service was great! This hotel is located in the Plaka so it was very convenient to walk or take public transportation. We used the Hop on-Hop off bus so that we could see where we were traveling. For a special splurge, we ate one night at the restaurant on the fifth floor overlooking the pool and Acropolis and the sun went down and the lights came up. Beautiful! Music was beautiful too, a woman played a harp. For this hotel, the price seemed reasonable.

Room Tip: Ask for a room on the Acropolis side.
