“Great One Night Stay”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 28 September 2013

We were only in Athens for one night and this hotel was ideal. We had a view of the Acropolis from our balcony and it was about a 10 walk from the hotel. We also enjoyed a delicious dinner on the rooftop with a breath taking view of the Acropolis. There were two twin beds pushed together with separate covers. The bathroom was small, but the shower pressure and hot water was great. The walls were very thin and we could hear our neighbors. We paid 10 Euros to get wi-fi in our room. The complementary breakfast buffet was great. The staff was friendly and helpful. The cab ride from the Rafina port was about 50 Euros. The cab ride to the airport was 40 Euros.

Our first time in Athens .. What a fabulous city ! We were promptly picked up and brought to the Electra Palace Hotel . We were welcomed warmly and given a gorgeous suite (I had requested an upgrade) overlooking the magnificent Acropolis. It was a fabulous room. We ate dinner the first night in the hotel restaurant .. Service and food were excellent and again sitting outside looking at the Acropolis .. Beautiful . I totally recommend this hotel for the closeness to the Plaka . Syntagma Square . Taxis plentiful and the fabulous staff of this hotel will organise and assist with anything you ask . They also know great restaurants to go to . Loved our 5 nights here and would stay here again ! Thanks to all the lovely , friendly staff for making our stay so lovely . We truly felt special and cared for !

They say its a five star but I would give it a 4, like they say its not written in stone, so once its a 5 star it stay. The hotel is not new and they do need to start fixing things around the place. The shower doesn't have a curtain only a half of a saloon door and the water just splashed all over the place. when pulling shower head careful it doesn't come off and when it does turn off the shower before trying to put the head back on. The reception was good and helpful did everything we asked. Ate at the roof top restaurant view was nice of the acropolis the food was good. Everything was near the hotel, you could walk to almost everywhere where a tourist would good, within 30 min.

Beautiful hotel. The rooftop pool is spectacular as is the rooftop restaurants. The breakfast buffet is somewhat less spectacular but is adequate. The location in the Plaka is ideal.

On the downside, the air conditioning is marginal at best. I had a junior suite with an Acropolis view. A beautiful, large, and well maintained room, but only the entryway got cool. I had to have a fan brought up to cool the room down. Not what one would have expected from a 5 star hotel. Also, there were not enough outlets. In this day when we all have smart phones, laptops, batteries to charge, and other electrical appliances, I had to unplug the lamp at the desk to get an outlet. I also had to unplug the television for a second outlet. The view also was a side view. You had to go out on the balcony and turn to see the Acropolis. You could not see it from the room-in fact, you saw another building across the courtyard from the room. It should more properly be sold as a "side Acropolis view."

The elevators were antiquated and slow. The Spa was adequate, but quite affordable.

Additionally, the parking, though quite reasonable, was closed in the evenings and was not truly affiliated with the hotel. The bill had to paid in cash separately from the hotel. I was not informed about this when checking in. If you have figured out your last Euro, you would be out of luck.

We have just returned from a 3 night stay. The bed is one of the most comfortable I have ever slept in. We walked miles around Athens and saw some of the marvellous treasures in the city. The Electra Palace is very well situated for access, and the pool is most refreshing after hot, tiring days.
We were pleased to discover that we had free wifi in our room as well as in the public areas. Our room was a standard room on the first floor, and also had a distant view of the Acropolis. (Room124)
Breakfasts were marvellous, I don't know what more anyone could wish for! I shall miss my smoked salmon and scrambled eggs or fresh fruit and Greek yoghurt and honey when I eat a bowl of cereal before work tomorrow

The hotel has many pluses but these are of little consequence when you suffer from noise caused by their rooftop pool close to our room

Staff's response as I again complained [I complained the previous day] when asked on checking out if we enjoyed our stay "we will make sure you do not receive the same room next time"

Room Tip: Do not book book room #335 nor one that could suffer same noise problem as room #335

We would highly recommend this hotel and will stay there again if we return to Athens. The hotel was lovely and the service from the staff was great. The room was very nice, clean and comfortable. The location cannot be beat. They have a lovely courtyard where we had coffee, drinks in the late afternoon, as well as breakfast. The 5th floor restaurant view is magical and the food and service were wonderful. It was a perfect last night in Athens and a great way to end our trip.
