“GORGEOUS hotel in CENTRAL location.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 21 July 2014

Going to keep this short and to the point.

5 star hotel in the center of Athens, literally right next to the main square with all the shops and sites you want to see.

View of the Acropolis from the pool (the view at night was just incredible).

Staff was actually not that friendly at all. One waiter even told me I was ordering too much food (which was none of his business and little did he know I was bringing the second dish for my friend who was sick in the room... felt it was completely not his place to remark on such a thing anyway and it was the way he said it that I found insulting). Unsure if it is because of the culture or because it was a 5 star hotel. Either way the staff could use some brushing up on manners and hospitality.

Despite the encounter with the staff, I felt the hotel was well worth its money. The rooms were nice and the bed was SO COMFORTABLE. Food was good. But you really just can't beat the location!

Stayed at Electra hotel for 2 nights, July 16th-July17th!

Great hotel and awesome staff! Every member of the staff was eager to do whatever they could to make your stay as pleasant as possible! From the bell man to the awesome front desk staff to the ladies cleaning the rooms!

The rooms are nicely decorated with nice touches... Robes, slippers, etc.

Our room faced the street, which can get loud with all the traffic, scooters etc. But the doors must be sound proofed, because once closed it's pretty quiet!

The only downside. if there is one, is that the beds aren't one solid king sized bed! It's like 2 twin sized mattresses together! They a make each one up separately and then push them together. So my leg kept getting stuck in the middle .. Lol

Otherwise.. FANTASTIC HOTEL!!!

We stayed for one night prior to Athens cruise. I I was hesitant to stay here based on mixed reviews however several friends including our travel agent suggested Electra palace. We are so glad we did. Our rooms were clean comfy with nice touches such as slippers robe coffee and tea. The breakfast was the best we ever had at a hotel. We have stayed in multiple 5* locations In USA. The hardest part was figuring out how the lights worked. We had a room with a view but preferred going up by the pool for a full on view

My wife is from Thessaloniki. We visit several times a year from California. We have been to many of the local hotels as well as several of the islands. Electra Palace is very conveniently located downtown near the promenade ( no beach access ). There are great places to eat and shop, all within walking distance. The hotel accommodations are typical of a 4 or 5 start hotel on the mainland. They are small, dated, and malodorous. The pool is really for wadding and soaking your feet. Not practical. The fitness center is small and has very limited equipment. The service is about average. The food a little better. The value is reasonable. This hotel is a great place to stay if you are visiting the city and want access to the city life.

Dear Guest
Thank you for taking the time and post your review. Electra Palace is located at the heart of Plaka, the old city of Athens, in a very convenient point for our guests, very close from Acropolis, Syntagma sq and other attractions. Like other European capitals old cities, space for every activity is limited and according to property needs; however and due to its ergonomy, it eliminates the handicap of spacious facilities.
We truly hope that we will welcome you as our guests in the near future

Great location in Athens. Rooms are comfortable & clean. Walking distance to all the major sites, amazing view from the pool & good breakfast selection. If you stay here there's a wonderful restaurant just around the corner. Family owned and deliciously authentic food.

The views to the Acropolis from this hotel are stunning, and swimming in the pool beneath such a monument is delightful. We spent 4 nights here, 2 in an Acropolis view suite and 2 in a standard room. The rooms are fine, beds comfortable and everything worked well.
On the downside, this is a very impersonal hotel. Staff range from mildly polite to rude, particularly in the pool bar. Breakfast food is at best warm, as is the coffee. Staff at breakfast need to be asked for everything and don't expect plates to be removed if you move between cold and hot food. Charging for wi Fi is ridiculous.
Overall, this was disappointing. I would not stay here again
