Golden Age Hotel Athens

We stayed here for three nights. The service was excellent and the staff were very courteous, food very good, room very clean and a good location. The only downside was to do with the room, the walls are paper thin, the balcony backed onto a very close block of flats and the bed was on the small and hard side. Minor details, other than that I would recommend this hotel.

The hotel is in a safe neighbourhood and 5 minutes walk to the metro station. It takes around 10 minutes to reach the Monastiraki station where most of the main attractions are. We stayed in a junior suit, the room size was good. The furniture was a little old yet not uncomfortable. Rooms and bathrooms are clean. The breakfast was awesome and staff was so friendly. We would definitely stay here again.

I boked this hotel based on the previous reviews and its being in proximity to metro station. I found that the hotel was better than the reviews I had gone through
Golden Age hotel is located in close proximity to the metro station on Blue Airport Line and is well connected. One can very well utilize the metro line for airport transfers. The stay was comfortable. The wi-fi was good and it was absolutely free for unlimited use !!. Breakfast had a good spread with Greek Corner. Staff were very helpful. Room was comfortable with tea/ coffee maker provided in the room.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip: hotel location is suitable for shopping in the city centre, which is a 10-15 minute walk. sightseeing is also a hop skip and a jump away

Room Tip: Try to book coco-mat sleep experience room, These are renovated room in front of the hotel & wit...

Nice room, small balcony but it faces inwards on other not so nice buildings, quiet. Blow dryer, small shower/tub.

Very friendly and helpful staff.

Good breakfast - eggs, bacon, sausage, different breads and pastries, delicious greek yogurt flavored and plain, fruit, cereal, ham, cheese, tomatoes, cucumber, coffee and juice.

Great location if you want to be close to the touristy stuff but not right in it.
3 short easy train stops away from the acropolis and touristy sight seeing areas. 1 train stop away or a 10-15min walk away from kolonokai a trendy area with nice shops and restaurants. 7-10 min subway ride to psiri or gazi for nightlife. Athens is so easy to get around the location was nice and safe. Train station located 3 blocks from hotel. 1 train gets you to the airport easy for $8 euros.

Wifi is only free for 24 hrs per device.

The hotel is located in one of the better neighbourhoods; nearby are several embassies and major hospitals. The megaro moussikis metro station is a 2 minute walk up the road and then you're a 2 minute ride away from Syntagma square and the acropolis. Several supermarkets and bakeries nearby. The room was tiny, awkward and just overall didn't feel comfortable. The bedroom area had a huge mirror covering the whole wall in front of the beds, just wasn't really making the room look any better, it felt creepy and tacky. The bathroom felt dated and stale. The bathroom's ceiling is not fully covered, it's a bunch of metal beams that have separations between them allowing you to see the concrete of the building. Found that very weird, wonder if any issues with pests and rodents falling through have occurred.

I booked this hotel for one night based on previous reviews on TripAdvisor. When we arrived in Athens, my friend and I realized that the airlines had lost our luggage and we were unable to continue sight-seeing and traveling to different parts of Greece until our luggage was found. This hotel went above and beyond when they heard we lost our luggage:
a) They provided us with dental kits, phone chargers and extra toiletries since we had just arrived after a 14 hour journey
b) Since we dont speak Greek, they called the airport numerous times to find out the status of our luggage - my friends luggage arrived within 24 hours due to their efforts

As well, we asked to renew our reservation for an extra 3 more nights and they gave us a better discount than the internet reservation price to compensate us for the hassle we were undergoing when we arrived in Athens.

Finally, they were very helpful in sending us to off-the-wall sightseeing spots that most tourists don't see to helping us with metro tickets and getting around the city.

Overall - it was a fantastic experience and I'm so very happy we stayed with the Golden Age as they made our losing our luggage a smooth, hassle-free experience.
