“Very good value for money”
Reviewed 30 April 2014

I stayed one night at the hotel Acropolis Select in Athens several days ago. Everything was fine but when I tried to book the room I've had problem with reservation because the hotel does not accept VISA VIRTUON. The problem is solved by using another credit card. So it might without that.
Hotel is about 5 min walk outside from the old city center. Rooms are simple and small but comfortable and very clean. Staff is really friendly. Breakfast was very good. Room price is about 50 euros, which is quite decent for such a city like Athens.

Nice toilet, have small lift. Good location and value for money. The only setback is the poor wifi reception. Have to ask staffs to reset router before it works even in lobby.

Other than that it was fine. Breakfast was not too bad too.

We stayed in Acropolis Select for Easter 2014 for 3 nights.

The staff was very friendly and helpful. Although, we arrived earlier than the check-in time, Matina checked us in, gave some good hints for Athens. Generally, the staff is the best of this hotel.
The rooms are being cleaned on a daily basis, so no complains here. Hot water available all the time.
The location is perfect - at a walking distance from everything and yet in a quiet street. Two metro stations "Acropolis" and "Singru-Fix" very close (the second one is 50 m or so).
Now the downsides:
What disappointed me a lot is that almost nothing that was there as description of the rooms, was actually present (or at least not in room 109):
- spacious balconies - you can not stay on the balcony and close the door of the room. The width is about 40-50 cm.
- broadband internet connection - they explained that there is a problem and they will try to fix it, but since it was a holiday that did not happen. On our last morning we finally had some internet, but the reception was very bad.
- soundproof rooms - Yeap :) If soundproof means that you can hear every sound coming from the corridor, the other rooms or showers/toilets. I think that this is the worst about the room e stayed.
- The so called satellite TV had only BBC as English language channel, plus one French.
- The shower is also not very comfortable.
I know that it was a discount offer (we payed 40 euros a night), but I feel obliged to share this, since the normal rate according to the price list in the room is 267 euro and it definitely does not deserve that much.

Room Tip: Maybe the rooms on the upper floor are better than the one we got.

This is the most traditional hotel we stayed at during our trip, but it was a welcomed experience. Very safe neighborhood near Plaka and only a few short blocks from all the action. We could easily walk to Psirri and other more active districts at night, but were happy to be able to come back to a more calm, police secured area near this hotel at night.

Great room with fresh linens and a balcony, great services and security. Front desk was very helpful and this hotel was a huge value for the price, considering what this kind of accomodation would costs elsewhere. I would liken this hotel to a Ramada Inn, Very clean, standard, secure. In Athens, where there are many unknowns in terms of saftey, we were happy to sacrifice some uniqueness in accomodation for this great, clean, comfortable option.

My husband I stayed at the Acropolis Select for a week in early May. He was in meetings most of the day, while I spent my days wandering Athens. The hotel receptionist was a wonderful sounding board for places to go and how to get there. She called Vougliameni Lake to double-check hours for me, wrote down bus stops so I wouldn't miss them, and let me practice my very limited Greek, explaining nuances of words, and cheerfully correcting my miserable pronunciation.
The hotel's location is amazing for the price - blocks from the Acropolis, the Acropolis museum, lots of great cafes, and two central metro stations. The breakfast was great - wonderful Greek yogurt, an unending supply of muesli, thick marmalades, good coffee. And the small elevated bar area was a fun place to end the day, chatting with others there for meetings, practicing Greek with the amiable bar-tender. The street is narrow, and the hotel is modest in appearance, but a very safe, pleasant home-base for time in a very memorable city.

Room Tip: Some rooms on the top floor have views of the Acropolis. And if you take the elevator to the roof, t...

The location of the hotel is its star point. Very convenient to reach from the airport by metro. Waking distance from the 2 main metro stations - Acropolis & Syngrou-Fix. The Acropolis museum, the Pantheon is hardly any distance away. Great area overall - lots of wonderful restaurants and smaller eating joints, souvenir shops. The neighborhood is safe even late at night. Plaka area, Monastiraki, Parliament square are all at a comfortable walking distance from the hotel. Atms, mobile shops all in the vicinity. Most tour operators (for Delphi etc) offer pick up services directly from the hotel.
For the price you payl, its a great deal! Decent size well-furnished rooms, good service, polite staff and perfect location.

The rooms were moderate to small in size with a decent size bathroom & TV. Clean & no complaints. The staff was nice & helpful. The location is a few blocks from the Acropolis Museum and alittle farther from Monistriki Square, but definitely walkable. I was alone at this location & never felt unsafe. I walked everywhere & use there subway system. I never stayed out passed 10pm by myself because the streets got dark & there wasn't a lot of people out so it made me concerned but besides that I loved it.
