Radisson Blu Park Hotel Athens
Ranked #49 of 281 Hotels in Athens
Reviewed 24 July 2012

I booked this hotel for 3 nights and got a very reasonable deal through the Radisson website. Our room at the back was lovely and quiet, with a fantastic view of the Acropolis.

The rooftop pool was lovely and very much appreciated in the heat of the Athenian summer.
Althought our room hadn't been refurbished, the room was absolutely fine and we had a nice big bathroom, good air conditioning and comfortable beds. Nice complimentary toiletries and towels, robes etc.

The local area of Exharia really isn't as bad as everyone makes out, I felt safer round there at 2am than I do on a standard night out in Manchester. We experienced no trouble whatsover and in fact people seemed genuinely pleased that visitors will still coming to Athens.

The staff at the Radisson were super lovely and went out of their way to be helpful to us. The hotel is very well placed and is a 5 minute walk away from Victoria metro station which links to the airport, Acropolis, Piraeus etc.

All in all, a really pleasant stay and I would highly recommend to anyone visiting Athens.

Room Tip: Ask for a room at the back- they're lovely and quiet!

The reservations staff were very helpful and prompt. The rooms were decent and the pool was nice. The Breakfast was very good. However I would choose a better location the next time. The distance from the Acropolis and all things of relevance for Athens did no justice. We chose to stay here due to forthcoming elections in Greece and we wanted to be away from the action. Turns out it was far more peaceful than we could have wished for!

Stayed at the hotel for 3 nights with wife and 2 kids. The location is ideal for visiting the museums in Athens. The family suite we stayed was spacey, overlooking the park across the street named pedion tou areos (field of Mars). The pool is small in size but not crowded as most guests are away during daytime. Breakfast is served on the 8th floor, with spectacular view of Acropole and Lycabettus hill. Food is great and simple, but lacking variety. All in all, I would recommend the hotel for anyone seeking to visit Athens' historic attractions.

While the view towards the Acropolis was outstanding, this hotel fell short of my expectations from a Radisson property. It's quite an old hotel, with Radisson taking over management only this year, however the room was extremely tired and dated. The overall service lacked energy and foresight and the location is close to a seedy part of town..."don't walk around here after dark" said one of the taxi drivers. Overall, Radisson needs to lift this property beyond where it is today!

Dear Lars O,
Very sorry to hear that the hotel fell short of your expectations!
We have done a lot of refurbishment but due to the financial crisis in Greece the continuation is taking longer than planned. We are however trying our best to move on as quickly as possible in order to offer a great product throughout !
We are often congratulated on the service offered by our staff but I have taken note of your comment and have already informed all department heads.
The area is considered safe and this is mainly due to high police presentation.

at your disposal & kind regards
Katerina Giannioudi

Radisson Blu Athens Park Hotel is a very nice place to live and see the city of Athens. Very close to Akropolis, Syndagma square, Kolonaki, Lycabettus, Plaka and all the good places, yet far enough to avoid the mad rush. A taxi will take you to all these places within 10 minutes, less than 5 euros. There is a metro station close by (not very close if you are walking in the summer heat), Viktoria on the Piraeus-Kfissia line. You have to change at Monastiraki or Omonia to get to Syndagma. The hotel staff is very warm and friendly, especially Vicky and Antionis at the reception (not the short bald guy, I forgot his name, and he was kind of unhelpful). Nikos and Sofia at the restaurant were also quite cordial, especially to our 3 year old son, who had a great time. Breakfast buffet was included in the reasonable tariff rate, and it was quite good, if a little monotonous for 6 days (some variety will be appreciated). Room service was kind of slow, our coffee/tea tray replenishments came after a day, but I would probably put that down the same bald short guy at the reception, who was a little inefficient. Overall, our trip was thoroughly enjoyable, and I would highly recommend to others.

The staff was very friendly and helpful, but we learned from our taxi driver that the area is not the best anymore. The room was very roomy and comfortable-we especially enjoyed the air-conditioning! Our room did not have a view of the Acropolis, but you could see that from the roof pool/restaurant area. The pool is nice, but closes at 18:00, because they set up the restaurant that opens up at 20:00. We made reservations for 20:00 and the wait staff was trying very hard, but seemed like they were new and just opened for business. The food was great, once we got it, but service was very, very slow-took 15 minutes for someone to get our drink order and another 10 to get them.
Breakfast was in the bar/lounge area on the 8th floor and the same dis-organization seemed to be there as in the outdoor restaurant. Hot food was cool to warm and when they were out of something, it took a long time for someone to refill or add more.

Room Tip: Business suite on the 7th floor was very quiet, but Internet was sporadic. Had to keep the door open...
