We stayed here as a part of our honeymoon. Service was strictly okay. Seemed cold and professional. Probably due to its large size. One big downside is the lack of free wifi. Breakfast spread was good. Rooms were 5 star quality.

Spent just one night here so can only give so much fair information. Hotel didn't seem to be in best neighborhood. Room was OK - actually kind of big for Europe. Biggest complaint was walking directions from Metro station given on hotel's website. You have to cross a major road (highway) to get to the side that the hotel is on. If you don't cross at the light (because you can't really see the hotel until you are close enough) you have to cross through a dark and dirty underpass. In addition to a change of Metro lines from the airport, I found the hotels near Syntagma Square to be better located.

Dear Magnus2009,
Thank you for choosing to stay at the Athenaeum InterContinental Athens and for writing a review about your stay. We are pleased to learn that you enjoyed the spaciousness of our rooms. With regard to our location and public transport options, may we suggest that once you reach Syntagma square with the Metro, you take the Tram directly from the square to the Kasomouli stop which is a block and a half away from the hotel. Alternatively you may take our complimentary shuttle bus from Syntagma square directly to the hotel, or outside its operating hours, a taxi from the square which costs approximately 4 Euros. We thank you again for your comments and look forward to welcoming you back to our city and the Athenaeum InterContinental Athens.
Yours sincerely,

My wife and I stayed for one night on 25 May 2014.
Check in staff very friendly and concierge very helpful. We were happy with our acropolis view and the bed was very comfortable, and room was tidy. Don't forget to put "Do not Disturb" sign on door if you don't want to be disturbed. We were interrupted 3 times by housekeeping staff, asking if we needed anything. They just opened the door without even knocking.
We were very angry that the Premiere Restaurant was closed (Sunday and Mondays), as we wanted to dine outside with view of Acropolis, which is one reason we chose to stay there.
Shuttle bus was very good, being able to take us where we needed to go. Bell staff very helpful.
On checking out, we got the most unprofessional person ever. She looked unhappy, and didn't make eye contact at all.
The hotel itself is quite out of the way of most attractions, so would stay elsewhere if I ever did go back to Athens.

Dear saudikiwi,
Thank you for staying with us at the Athenaeum InterContinental whilst visiting Athens with your wife earlier this month. We are pleased to learn that overall our staff service was to your satisfaction, but are sorry to learn of the lapse in service you received upon check-out. In addition, we have noted your comment about our Housekeeping department and would like to assure you that our staff does knock before entering a room, however, we will ensure that your comments are shared with our team in order to avoid a similar occurrence in the future. We thank you for your valuable feedback for it is through comments such as yours that we are able to identify certain areas of improvement. We hope to have the opportunity to welcome you back to our hotel on your next visit to Athens.

This large hotel in central Athens offers exactly what you would expect from the Intercontinental chain. Rooms are comfortable and dining in the Hotel is good, lots of food and plenty of it. Paying for wi fi and expensive mini bar prices are disappointing. Good view of the Acropolis from the top floors and regular shuttle service to take you to other parts of Athens.

Our 3rd trip to this hotel was for 5 nights in May 14. We booked a standard club room and were upgraded to a suite. The rooms are beautiful. Maid service is excellent - almost OCD in detail ensuring bathroom things are laid out for use. Room service was prompt and unassuming. Location is excellent with a tram going past the street end every 10 mins or so - chose both directions - one to the beach and one to the town centre. There is also a regular hotel shuttle to town but we didnt use it finding it more fun to use the local clean tram service.

Club lounge is really excellent value. I was treated like a princess by attentive staff with an eye for detail. Breakfast is slightly different every day as are the evening canapes for with drinks. The complementary bar is well stocked and never seems to run out! Late check out was much appreciated. The view from the club balcony is incredible... breakfast looking at the Parthenon / acropolis!

Martha and the guest relations team always make us feel like we are important guests with individual needs - not just another tourist!

Fantastic all round. Thanks team!

Room Tip: consider paying the club room upgrade - it can work out more cost effective than buying breakfast an...

We stayed there for 3 nights. It is a wonderful place to stay in Athens. The staff are friendly and helpful specially the concierge. The hotel offers shuttle transport to down town where you can pick your ride of hope in hop off tour. They also offer you the tickets for these tours.
Room was nice and comfortable. Food quality was great in breakfast and in dinner. We had dinner once at their 10 floor restaurant. It has a magnificent view over the acropolis. However, if you are accustomed on normal food portions( of course not the us standard even), you will be surprised by the tiny portions in your dish.
Over all, we enjoyed our stay there

This hotel is a bit out of the way from the city center but they had a shuttle bus that left every hour-not very convenient but if you can manager your schedule around the times it would work out-if not, the taxis to Syntagma Square only cost 4 euros and are available 24 hours a day-so we took cabs every time we left the hotel. The breakfast was amazing with everything you can imagine available and all very delicious. The dining is just by the pool area and was included in our room rate otherwise I think it would cost around 30 euros per person. The roof top view was amazing and the food was a bit pricey but well in line for that type of atmosphere for this type of hotel. The Plaka is just a short walk up from Syntagma Square and we ate there almost every afternoon and evening.

Room Tip: I am sure there is a great view of the Acropolis from the upper floors but we were only on the secon...
