Dorian Inn Hotel Athens
Ranked #93 of 284 Hotels in Athens
Reviewed 9 July 2014

I was only in this hotel for one night and that was enough. It wasn't BAD, it was just not what I was used to. Staying in a Contiki group (quad share) I had expected an average level, but to have a bathroom door that doesn't close (and if it does, you need someone to shoulder slam the door from the outside to open it) didn't leave me very happy. I also don't understand the handheld shower head, although this is very common in Greece and was in all of the hotels we stayed in.. but seriously, as a capital city you would think that installing hooks to hold the shower head wouldn't be too much to ask. The rooms themselves were spacious, the breakfast was adequate and the location was good for eateries, shops and the metro... although the neighbourhood itself seemed a little sketchy. It was approx 45 mins travel from the airport on the metro.

The good thing about this places was the rooftop bar, restaurant and pool. A gorgeous 360 degree view of Athens (inc Acropolis) and the well priced drinks left us happy. They close at 2am so it was great to come back from town after dinner and have a few drinks before bed. I'd stay here again in a group or as a family if I only had 1-2 nights there, but not for longer and not on business or as a solo traveller.

Room Tip: Higher floor for a view.

Dear Dom,
Thank you for telling people about your experience in Dorian Inn Hotel, furthermore we would like to mention a few tips in order to make stay for future guest more convenient.

First of all we thank you for your kind words about the roof top bar and pool! Just for the record, the view from our hotel’s roof top is the only with a 360 degrees in Athens from where you can see the whole city and the nearby islands of the Saronic gulf, also because our hotel is the tallest in the center (12 floors) the view is unobstructed to all directions.

As mentioned again we are reconstructing or replacing all the faulty appliances, furniture and bathroom amenities from the 2nd to the 8th floor in order to make the stay more comfortable. The bathrooms is our first priority including the showerheads, holders and sinks. The door problem you had should have been mentioned to the reception and the best possible solution could be given the soonest, the door could have been mended or even replaced by our hotel’s maintenance personnel.

Thank you again for your kind words we hope to see you again in our hotel! We take all the suggestions and recommendations given in Tripadvisor very seriously and we always give the solution closest to the mentioned one.

We had a room on the 10th floor. Couldn't see the Parthenon from our giant balcony, but we had a wonderful view of the city and the sunset. The balcony was bigger then the room! Loved that the breakfast was included and the price was great, 3 nights for 240 euros. Very close to the metro station and only three metro stops from the acropolis. The staff wasn't very friendly, although they weren't rude either, it just seemed like nobody knew how to smile, although we found that to be the case everywhere in Athens. The bathroom floor appeared to not have been cleaned before we got there. Also, the beds were rock hard and it had two twin mattresses pushed together which is not very friendly to a husband and wife. The top floor truly had the best view in the city other then Mars Hill. We went there every evening for some wine and were in awe of the view.

Room Tip: get 10th floor or higher for amazing views.

If you are searching for a nice hotel in the center of Athens look no further! I was a little discouraged with the previous comments but I liked the pool on the roof top so I booked this one. Ok, the view was great I stayed up there for hours, the breakfast is also served up there as well as the dinner. Even though I did not chose the hotel for its room it was not the best I have ever stayed but it had the amenities needed so it was fine. The area perhaps needs some improvement but it is fine during the day and the Metro station is quite close. Last but not least, the price was very good for what you get!

We stayed here for five nights looking for a central location in athens. It was central alright. The area is close to Omenia square and metro. Its littered with shabby hotels and buildings-not quite a slum but close enough.
The hotel was a train wreck. The staff was...meh. Everything else was absolutely bare minimum. Shower leaked and had mildew. Television was broken. Air conditioning was barely a central fan. Athens was thirty five celsius. Housekeeping closed at 7:00 so no anything if u needed it. Only good thing-view from the rioftop poll Spectacular. Stilll many great views in athens without the grief

Dear guest,

Thank you for taking time to tell people about your stay at Dorian Inn Hotel. Furthermore we would like to mention a few points so as not to mislead future guests.

So as in every hotel in Athens during the high season it is obvious that the rooms might have some malfunctions at the electrical appliances or the hydraulics. The best solution for any of the malfunctions is that it must be mentioned at the hotel’s reception immediately so that we can provide the best possible solution. If the solution cannot be given in the room the guest can easily change room regarding the occupancy.

The one permanent malfunction that your room faced and for which we apologized was the air-conditioning system’s. The mentioned system was built many years ago, so an entire new system was built from scratch. We ensure that future guest will face no more heating problems.

Last but not least. The view from our roof top is the one and only 360 degree view in our city. From there you can see all of the city plus the sea and the nearby islands.

I stayed there for 2 nights in June with my partner . The room on the 10th floor was huge , with a balcony that gave us a view of the Acropolis . The balcony had a table & chairs & was about 12 mts long , 5 wide. Perfect to sit & take in your surroundings. The bathroom was luxurious, all marble , the shower over the bath, plenty of complimentary shampoo/body wash, also a built in hair dryer.
Wifi worked perfectly. The best part was the complimentary buffet breakfast, bacon eggs sausages, tiropita( cheese pie) toast , fresh bread croissants, fresh fruit yoghurt cereal muesli. Tea cof & juices.
The negative part was the rundown area the hotel is located. We didn't have any trouble from anyone & we walked everywhere at night. I don't think single women would feel safe at night , during day no big deal. It's 3 mins walk to Omonia metro. I would stay here again

The image of Athens' Center has been recently improved nevertheless it still remains a shadow part of city with certain dangers and immigrants. The extra negative comments refer to the absense of wifi internet in the rooms (only in the Lobby - weak signal - was available) and the poor wc facilities. Specifically, there was no shower curtain or any protector and consequently after shower we had to deal with a pond inside our toilet. I asked for a curtain to be placed or a mop so we can solve it ourselves (even though we shouldn t) but no response to our request. The beds were comfortable and the aircondition worked fine. Other than that, the roof (A1) view is fantastic and the breakfast as well. The personel we deal with was also polite. For the level of services provided, it is definitely not a value for money.

Room Tip: It is an opinionated judgement which contains as many facts as possible to give a less biased idea.
