Athens Cypria Hotel

Our family of 4 (with our kids 12 and 15 years old) stayed at the Athens Cypria for 4 nights in a family room that had two rooms. We then returned for one more night after touring the Greek islands before heading home. We thought the room that we stayed in for 4 nights was very basic but it suited our needs(we didn't know better rooms existed) and the hotel is an excellent location from the Plaka. We were on the 1st floor but it felt a bit dark and crowded. When we returned for the one night, the room was on the 4th floor, had signficantly more space, was brighter, with nicer bathrooms, was more attractively decorated and had a carpet, which made it feel more comfortable. I would recommend this hotel but look at the room first and request a higher floor possibly since there seems to be a big difference. The buffet breakfast that was included was quite good with a variety of food including eggs, baked beans, feta cheese, pastries, fruit and yogurt to mention a few. The hotel met our expecations but it would have been nice to have the better room for both visits. When I spoke to the front desk about the discrepancy, my comments were ignored.

Room Tip: Make sure the room is on an upper floor and is carpeted. Look at the room first.

Nice little hotel in the heart of Athens that is within walking distance of the museums, tourist spots, great shopping, and restaurants. Clean, great breakfast buffet, good A/C, but none of the ammentities of the finer hotels. Good value though!

Room Tip: Ask foir a high floor to get away from traffic noises.

If you plan to visit Athens and be away the whole day, then book here for sure.
It is a safe place, but don’t expect anything luxurious or romantic here.
Good location because it is central, but the hotel needs a refreshing.
Have in mind that there are two wings and when you book ask to be given a room in the new wing.
It is popular with many Cypriots and people coming from England. My closest friend stayed here several times, but this summer I had the chance to visit it myself.

Breakfast was adequate and it was fine as one day we had breakfast with my friend.
There are different toiletries in the bathroom which are basic.
There is free wireless internet which is extremely slow, and many times we could not get connection.
It badly needs renovation.

This is a great centrally located hotel just a short walk from the Syntagma metro station, in the middle of Athens. Easy to find, very good service and clean. This is a simple 3 star hotel and the rooms are basic but for the two nights we stayed it met our needs perfectly. Would definitely stay again and recommend to others.

Hotel was very clean. Breakfast really good. Central location - close to shops, Plaka and the ruins. Would definitely recommend this hotel - good value for money.

we were a family of three . we were placed in the old wing, in a room so small that we had to put our suitcases (carry on bag size suitcases) in the bathroom for the three of us to move about the room. with the third bed, cot really, we could not open the closet door. this part of the hotel is in poor shape. hall carpets stained and buckling, easy to trip over. dirty, grimey, ugh! it is obvious that it is just ignored from a maintenance perspective. the staff was very accomodating, and we were upgraded to a larger room in the newer section at no cost. (we booked thru fantasy travel, a large agency, so that may have helped ). the new room was larger and newer, but the maintenance philosophy is the same. tv cable frayed and didnt work. large bath tub but be careful getting in and out because rusted screws protruded from the side of the basin. air conditioner worked but the plastic louvers used to circulate the air was, of course broken. .hall carpet needs replacement etc...also, beds very hard even for european standards. breakfast ok. location is where you want to be. only hotel that i couldnt connect to free wireless internet. somehow i was not surprised.
this hotel was not our first choice, but in fairness to fantasy travel, we booke d late, and the special olympics were in town also. would not stay again.

This hotel felt safe and reasonably clean and entirely adequate... but nothing special. Two complaints though. The internet was slow. The hotel is understaffed and very unfriendly (there was one nice lady). I have traveled a lot and have never complained about rude people but Greece in general has a serious customer service problem. Maybe it's unfair to criticize this hotel when it may just be the way it is there.
