Our stay in the NJV was brief, just one afternoon and night before departing in the morning for the airport. The hotel is centrally located near the Metro, Syntagma Square and the Plaka shopping area. Value for the money was good; considering we were there during peak season when rates are typically high and we paid what we thought was a reasonable rate. The room smelled of smoke, but we forgot to ask for a non-smoking room. The smell wasn’t very strong so we decided to stay put. The room was clean, well sized, elegantly decorated, and had enough outlets to charge everything we needed (surprisingly this can be a challenge in Athens). The bathroom was also well sized and clean, though the toilet flush button was in a strange place.
Ladies, the hair dryer should not be counted on to dry anything short of a crew cut. It was wall mounted and looked more like a vacuum cleaner. It put out little air that was scorching hot. So hot, that the handle became too hot to hold. We called down to the front desk and asked if they had another. They said they’d look around and if they had one someone would bring it up. Luckily they had one available which they brought up within minutes.
Internet was 19 euros which we didn’t take advantage of. Considering that everywhere we visited in Greece charged for internet this wasn’t surprising, but the price seemed a little high.
The gentleman at the front desk suggested an area for us to visit that was two train stops away on the Metro. We had a great time people watching and enjoyed a couple of drinks with snacks there. Sorry I don’t remember the area but it’s a very popular area to have a coffee or drinks in the evening. I highly recommend visiting it.
In the AM the bellman quickly came for our bags and taxis were plentiful for the 35 euro trip to the airport.
We were very pleased with the room, the location, and the staff. Considering we booked the hotel the day before our stay we still received a very fair rate.
