“You get what you pay for”

We had booked this hotel due to it's location. Requested and booked a superior double room, but when we got to the room, there were two single beds. Nothing superior about it at all!!!! A quick trip back to reception resulted in being given the key to a room which had a double bed!

Pros: close to shops. Free internet access on 2 computers in the bar area.

Cons: rooms are very small. Balcony in our room was big enough to put one chair on. Only 1 pillow each. Wifi more hit than miss in rooms. Worked better in reception area. Shower was disgusting. You had to hold the shower spray, bit difficult when trying to wash your hair. There was a cigarette burn hole in the blanket. No breakfast is included in the price.
Would I stay there again?......big fat NO!!!

Spent two nights at the Balasca Hotel. Traveling as a family, husb, wife and two daughters 10 & 12 yrs. There are no frills, the beds are hard. The breakfast was fabulous, making for the start two great days in Athens. The breakfast also increases the value of the stay at the Balasca. Very close to the Metro (just around the corner) and a supermarket also just around the corner. Athens is not a clean city. Did not have any issues with safety or feel the area was dangerous. The quad room was three single beds with a cot brought in. I chose to sleep on the cot as it was softer than the beds. For a budget conscious traveler this may be right for you. I would stay again if ever in Athens.

Chose this hotel because of other's reviews and were not disappointed. It is close to the Larissa Station and in minutes you can be anywhere in the city by using the metro, train or bus systems. We originally booked in for 2 nights not sure if it would meet our needs, and ended up making it our home base for our 3 week vacation. We chose the no breakfast option, but could have it for a small cost each day if we desired. There are many small cafes and tavernas in the area where lunch and dinner can be reasonably purchased. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. The rooms we had were all clean and with a small private balcony. This is a budget friendly hotel and great value. It has met all our needs from day one.

You get what you pay for, not a very nice hotel, in a dodge area. There was very bad smell of smoke in room. Perfect for tourist who just need place to sleep. Good location though and for the price you cant expect much more.

Stayed here on the middle of our contiki in July 2012, after staying in camping cabin huts for the 10 days before it was lovely to be back in a hotel that even had a hair dryer. Was in a wee bit of a shady looking area but I did find that to be quite deceiving as the hotel was lovely, was close to the subway station.

This hotel is in a shady location, but the price is extremely reasonable and the room is comfortable enough. There was a naked man in an apartment across the street from the hotel and he was shining a green laser pointer into my room. After that, we stopped going out to the balcony & kept the blinds closed. In general, we didn't have any problems with this hotel because the price was so reasonable, and the staff was helpful.

This 3-star hotel with 7 floors has rooms in various standard (single, double etc.) and is situated close to the metro station (Larissis) and train station (same name) - which means you've good connection with Pireus port and airport.

Daily room service (e.g. fresh towels every day, free cosmetics). Hotel is located in very good localization - you don't have to walk far to reach the center of Athens, same with area - save after midnight. I'm lady who traveled alone there so I know what I say :) You definiatelly get what you pay for. No problem with communication in English with hotel personnel. There's also free wifi which worked fine and air-conditioning which was too noisy in my opinion (I had to swich it off at night).

Daily breakfast (if you ordered) for guests as well. Very clean rooms, silence after 10 pm.
I rate the standard as good for me, connected with good value (30 euro per single room) is the best option for stay in Athens, also for longer than 7 days.

Couple of shops around (you can buy food, drinks etc.) and big Carrefour market two streets forward.
