Right next to the Temple of Olympian Zeus, this triumphal arch lies on an ancient street that once led from the old city of Athens to the new Roman section built by Hadrian. If you are in the area of course stop by and see this wonderful Roman triumphal arch, another wonderful piece of ancient architecture to add to the wonders of ancient sites to behold in Athens.

The arch itself is massive and impressive. I love the inscription depending on which side you are standing on. The Greek and Roman combination really make this interesting. Love history.

We were touring on an Election Day and most everything was closed. We could get right up to the gate and snap a few pics though. Was a bit scary walking around because military personal were all over with automatic weapons. Not a must see.

It is on your way either from or to the Temple of Olympian Zeus. Just off the main road and with free access it is historically quite an interesting structure. Not a 'must' but if you are checking out the temple and then going further down to the Panathenaic Stadium you should make the effort.

If you have time in Athens to stop by, why not? There is the arch, some toppled columns and other ruins. It won't blow your mind, but it is a bit interesting.
