Lovely museum, well worth a visit.

The open-air cafe in the courtyard is very cool and is open till 11 every night (8pm on Sundays). Thursdays are jazz nights.

“Nice secret”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 20 April 2013

This museum is well hidden just in the centre of town. The architecture of the building is unique. The collection is very specialised, so i think that to a majority of people wouldn't raise a lot of interest. But if you are walking around a hot day in the centre, you should definitely stop at the cafe of the museum, which is a small hidden garden to breeze up a little bit.

“Really not to be missed!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 5 March 2013

Although everyone hears about the more famous museums of Greece, this little gem - within easy walking distance of Syntagma Square - is now as high on my list as any of them. Entrance is only 2 or 3 Euros, audio guides are free, and yet for this paltry amount you can view one of the most comprehensive collections of coins in the world presented in the 'Trojan Mansion' - Heinrich Schliemann's wonderful Athenian home completed in 1880. Excellent coffee also available to the rear building in the gardens that Schliemann used to enjoy so much himself when in the city.

“In top two things I did in all of Greece”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 25 January 2013

I really loved this building and the exhibits. I was the only one there and spent nearly 3 hours absorbing all the information and listening to the entire audio tour. As a child I wanted to be an archeologist - this museum gave me a feel of that discovery thrill.
