I remember watching Yani' s concert as a child in this stunning venue and always wanted to visit. Unfortunately during our stay there wasn't any performance here but if you plan ahead you might be able to catch a show.

“Perfect Acoustics”
Reviewed 8 August 2014

Built in the 2nd century BC, this theatre is renowned for its perfect acoustics. Today it hosts festivals in Athens, with pieces, songs and ballets inspired by Antiquity works. Is close to the Acropolis.

“Great night - VERY warm”
Reviewed 8 August 2014

Went to see Othello, loved it! Well worth taking in a show if you can. Only downside was the heat - but in fairness you are in Athens! They give you cushions to sit on, but the marble seats are so hot, that ends up roasting!

“Part New, Part Old: Worth a Look, By Acropolis”
Reviewed 5 August 2014

The Odeum, dating from 161 AD, was a grand sight during that time: very steep seating for 5,000 people, a three story front wall and a wooden roof. Most of the structure was destroyed when Athens was sacked and razed in 267 AD. The front wall looks mostly original with some being reconstructed. The audience seating area (just plain benches) and stage was rebuilt in the 1950s with marble and looks obviously new. I did not attend a concert here, but I'm sure the acoustics are amazing.

You can get a great view of the Odeum while walking up the hill on your way to the Acropolis to see the Parthenon. It will be just off the sidewalk about halfway up; you can’t miss it.
