“Great sights, good food!”
Reviewed 29 August 2014

It was a little bit of a mission to this place and taxi's sometimes will try to con you as it is a popular place. But we managed to get a decent taxi up to the mountain. At the top, you see a lovely view of Athens. Food at K Grill was amazing! I enjoyed it a lot. You can take a tram back down and then a load of taxi's waiting to pick people up. Great fun!

“Likavitos in Athens”
Reviewed 29 August 2014

If you visited Athens without beeing on the top of Likavitos it means you didn't visit Athens. This is a
must place. Likavitos is located at 277 meters (908 ft) above see level and gives the best sight over the view of the city of Athens. Highly recommended to be there just before sunset and to see the city on day light and at night. On the top there is a Chapel from the 19th centurey Chapel of St. George and a nice restaurant on the top.

“Excellent photo opportunity for all of Attica and wonderful small chapel”
Reviewed 28 August 2014

A funicular ride (cablecar for us uninitiated) up to the top of this peak for a few euro allowed us to wander around and enjoy the great scenery from an excellent vantage point. Full 360 degree view of Athens can be had. The small chapel is worth a look in if it is open to see a little of an older sanctuary. There is restaurant also on the top of the hill which was okay value considering where it was.

“Amazing view from the top of Lycabetus.”
Reviewed 28 August 2014 via mobile

You don't need a taxi to visit the top of Lycabettus Hill. There is an underground Lycabettus Funicular from the Kolonaki district of Athens since 1965. The trip is fast and relaxing. Its entrance is at the intersection Ploutarchou street and Aristipou street.

Taxi drivers will take your money, they will drive you to the much lower altitude of Lycabettus Theater parking and you will be forced to climb for half an hour the stairs to the top of Lycabettus.

The only bad thing is that from Kolonaki district and generally in the whole area there aren't signs for the Lycabettus Funicular. Check google maps, Wikipedia or anything else you like.

On the top of Lycabettus is the Agios Georgios church Saint George in English. The view is amazing. The hill is higher than acropolis and is the best place to view the Athens. You will realize that Athens is a pit surrounded by mountains. That prevents the strong winter winds and gives to Athens a mild climate.

Near the church is a coffee shop restaurant. Not the best restaurant but with the best view. Prefer the sunset it is a fantastic place to watch it and don't forget your camera.

If you don't want to pay for the descent of Lycabettus Funicular, try the stairs to the Kolonaki district and not to the Lycabettus Theater. Of course descent is by far easier and the route is under trees. Avoid the night hours though. Daytime is very safe.
