Owner description: The earliest Ionic building on the Acropolis, this small temple of the goddess of victory depicts assemblies of the gods and Greek battles against the Barbarians and the Boeotians.

If it is your first time to the Acropolis it is very easy to miss this site since you really can't get too close to it. you really have to stop and really take a good look at it as you go towards the main Acropolis site. Thats why you should visit early in the morning due to crowds by midday.

After you climb the sidewalk to the Acropolis, you'll come to a long set of stairs; if you look to the right, you'll see the four columns and relatively small structure of Athena Nike on the edge of a sheer wall. Climb the stairs and as you go through the Propylaea (monumental entrance to the Acropolis)- the Temple of Athena Nike is probably already in the back of your mind. Once people see the imposing Parthenon on the Acropolis in the distance, Athena Nike Temple is forgotten. Take 15 minutes to check out the small temple (most tour guides will skip it, especially for cruise ship tours where time is limited), so it won't be crowded.
