I have visited there with my friends for 2 nights. We have booked online and they said they want to have my credit card number just in case we dont Show up. Then when we arrived receptionist told that je tried to charge all money from my card and when bank refused to do without my permission he decided to cancel our reservation. We argued and although he was insisting that hotel was all booked suddenly he said he can find us 2 rooms. He charged us more than we have to pay. Our air condition was broke and when we asked to do something about it they said repairman can only come at morning. Never trust this hotel

Travelers beware. This hotel is worn, dirty and well overpriced. They do not provide internet with the rate so everyone sits downstairs in the lobby (crowded) to try to connect. You can pay for internet but its by the hour! Also, the wallpaper is peeling, the furniture is very worn. Nothing about this is 4 Star.

Yes, the rooms are small and the decor could use some updating and Wi-Fi is spotty - but why did you come to Athens? To stay inside your hotel room? The Hotel Astor's location cannot be beat. It is within walking distance to just about anywhere you want to go. Syntagma Square's a stone throw away. The Palaka district, Monastariki, the Acropolis, restaurants galore and shopping!. A subway station is on the corner, many banks and exchange offices as well. The staff is pleasant and accommodating and the roof-top restaurant view is jaw-dropping. Yea, OK it can be noisy but THAT"S ATHENS!

Room Tip: Upper most rooms tend to be quieter and you must check out the roof-top view! Take your binoculars!

We stayed at this hotel for two nights. The staff is helpful and accommodating. The breakfast was good, with a variety of fruit, pastries, hardboiled eggs, coffee and tea. The room was small and the beds were uncomfortable. The price was right and the location was great.

Room Tip: Ask for a room on a top floor.

There are 2 things that makes this hotel decent: location and cleanliness. The room is super tiny, bed set against the wall, furniture too big for the size of the room. Seems like they tried to update the room but did a very cheap job. Don't let them fool you, it is NOT a 4 star hotel, barely a 3 star.

We stayed here for two nights before leaving on a cruise. Staff are pleasant and obliging. Our travel agent requested a room on the 5th floor or above and we were on the 6th floor, with a balcony, overlooking the street. It wasn't at all noisy. We did have a problem with the hot water, though. Our lovely cleaning lady suggested that we just let the water run for a while, which we did, and this solved the problem.
As others have said, the hotel is in a great location. Breakfast is just OK, but the dining room does get very busy at times and the view is gorgeous. One issue we had was getting our cases out of the taxi. The street is very narrow, and other drivers become very impatient if you take too long.

Room Tip: Room on the 5th floor or above

I stayed at the Astor for 3 nights on a business trip. The room was dark, dingy and pokey. On arrival, I discovered my towels had dubious dirt marks. Wifi was charged at 15 euros and ran at a snail' space. The roof top restaurant was rather limited, although the view was by far the hotel's best feature. There was a small fridge in my room, which was empty. When I called for bottled water at midnight, I was told that room service stopped at 10.30pm and to drink the non-chilled water from the bathroom tap. I met with an Athenian friend who commented that she often walked past the hotel and wondered what kind of person stayed there.

Room Tip: Back of hotel was dark and still noises at night.
