Very good value for money in a fascinating counter-culture/alternative neighbourhood close to the city center. Excellent restaurants and bars are within walking distance, the metro a 5-10 minute walk, and Syntagma Square and Monastiraki Flea Market a 10-15 minute walk away.
Exarchia, the area, is similar to the old East Village of New York, The Mission district of San Francisco, and Kreuzberg in Berlin. It sits between the University of Athens and the Politechnion and is home to students, immigrants, Greek families of different economic strata, restaurants, cafes, computer shops, used vinyl and CD shops, guitar shops, used bookshops, boutiques, clubs, bars, punks and anarchists, While perhaps not for everyone, I felt completely at home here and would recommend it to anyone a bit adventurous or interested in alternative culture, street art/graffiti, etc.
The hotel receptionist was very helpful and friendly, let us check out late as our flight was delayed (without an extra charge), and breakfast was decent.
Very glad I stayed here!!
