Went to Athens on our Honeymoon to start a cruise and booked this hotel because of the positive reviews on TA, it did not disappoint. We stayed two nights. Great location, close to all ( Plaka. Acropolis (use the south entrance - no tour buses and more ruins on the way up), Ermou Street (Shopping), Parliament Building) and more. Very nice rooms with a lovely terrace and VERY comfortable bed, good fresh breakfast and most of all, GREAT staff, from Margarite on the front desk, to the manager Dorina, to the housekeepers and breakfast room hostess, they all went out of their way to help and make you feel like you were home at a very reasonable price. I will give it the highest rating. Thank you for making our stay memorable.

We had a great stay at the Hotel Hermes. It is conveniently located to the train from the airport and to the major tourist sites in Athens. The neighborhood is safe and the street it's on is quiet-- full of interesting religious vestment shops actually. The room is functional and clean-- we had a balcony that was a lovely treat when you arrive groggy from a long day of international travel.

The most surprising thing about the Hotel Hermes was the warm hospitality. On our first morning we overslept (having arrived from Chicago at 9 pm the previous evening), and knew that we had missed breakfast-- it was already 10:30 when we came downstairs. But when we asked at the front desk where we could grab a light breakfast in the neighborhood, the concierge brought us upstairs-- and gave us yogurt, fruit, and coffee-- just what we wanted. She even sat down with us for a few minutes, told us about special events happening in Athens, gave us a map and made us feel very welcome on our first morning in Greece. We highly recommend this hotel, for the value, the location, and the wonderful service.

Bus from airport drops off in town within walking distance to this hotel. Its really not far at all.The police presence very obvious.Told there had been a demostation hence the extra number of uniforms. Down another skinny street, I have now become accustomed to these on this journey through Greece, is the Hotel Hermes. Not large or imposing. Reception friendly and knowledgeable about what could be of help to the traveller.
My room, 5th floor ( six accom floors). Lift. Large comfortable bed, clean bathroom, view of rooftops and the squeals of children from a nearbye daycare centre in the daytime. Television old box type. Fridge. No tea/coffee in room but there is a free facitly in lounge area on ground floor. Roof top for outside smokers/ drinks but you will have to stand on a high stool to get a view of the Acropolis as another rooftop in the way. Shame. Free wifi and in lounge computer and printer. Buffet breakfast sufficent. Management try to talk to all guests at this stage of the day and assist in the days activities or questions that might arise. Not seen this before and is a BIG plus for the hotel.
After reading some reviews it became apparent that parts of Athens were a bit dodgy for tourists. This hotel is in an area that feels safe, plenty of people about at night. So strolling to bar/restaurants feels comfortable. There are many places with good food nearby and found on that a pint of beer was 2.75 euro's. There was one young man staying here who had his I Pad pinched while at a taverna,he was sitting at an outside table when he was distracted. Always you need to be aware anywhere in the world when travelling.
When leaving the management gave a "Goodbye" and a cheery wave. My walk to the airport bus felt good.

Room Tip: Higher the better as there is a lift

The Hermes provided me with a very nice comfortable quiet room for a reasonable price. And the manager, Dorina, went out of her way to help me find my cell phone which I had left in my taxi from the airport.

The perfect hotel to visit Athens. Dorina treats her guests like family. The hotel location is within easy walking distance to most of the sites and sights of Athens. There are many good restaurants nearby. A full breakfast is provided daily. Even if you have an early flight, the breakfast room is open for a continental breakfast. We had breakfast at 2:30am before leaving for the airport by taxi. We highly recommend the Hermes Hotel.

Room Tip: We had a quiet room (202) in the back of the hotel.
