“Lovely hotel in a great location”
Reviewed 21 June 2014 via mobile

We stayed two nights and enjoyed our stay. The hotel was clean and tidy and the staff were very helpful. Our room was small but perfectly adequate for us and we liked the privacy of the balcony facing the wall over the courtyard. Breakfast on the rooftop terrace with a stunning view of the Acropolis was a perfect start to the day. The location is excellent for all the main sites of Athens. Wifi worked perfectly once the helpful gentleman on reception explained to us how to connect. Would definitely stay again.

3 old friends on a " boys only" trip. We selected this hotel as it was one of the few with 3 person room, It turned out to be a better location than we had anticipated. Major attractions within walking distance, even for us elderly gentlemen in our late 70s. Room was not large but adequate for 3 days. We even had a small balcony, overlooking the street and our " water hole". A/C .
We really enjoyed having breakfast on the roof terrace, with a nice view of the Akropolis. The buffet has everything we needed.
We dined across the street 2 evenings and enjoyed it.

Room Tip: We had room 204 with 3 beds.

The best thing anout this hotel is its great location. Great advice from this site to ask for room with balcony overlooking street. Rooms are small but clean and bathroom is adequate. Absolutely love location and would definitely come here again.

Room Tip: Ask for room with balcony overlooking street.

We went to Athens for the first time and this hotel left a very bad impression .Firstly you should be sure the Wifi doesn't work.. No signal, unverifiable code name.Breakfast was like a nightmare.Everyday, everything was over when we went to breakfast .And anyone didn't want to refresh. After few times we said ,she refreshed who was unfriendly and unhappy to serve us. Our room was awful, we were 3 adults, and they gave us kid's additional bed. Room was dark, comfortless ( even we noted on our reservation) .Hotel has a wall view on back of the street. Then we complained to the Reception guy, about all these problems ; internet , room, breakfast, and that was one of the worst answer in my travel life " I'm not hotel, write to the General manager, this is his e-mail adress contact with him" Could you believe this answer ? I 'm unsatisfied guest and i 'm talking about my complaints to the reception guy which is one concerned inside of the hotel and he replied "sorry im not hotel " What a ridiculous answer. After all these trouble , we didn't have a good stay. They didn't solve our problems, we would like to change our hotel but you know last time ( also Easter ) it was high price on another hotels.
Would not stay here again. Never !!

To be precise: On the border of the Monastiraki and Plaka district, a stone's throw from the Roman Agora, within easy walking distance to the Ancient Agora and Temple of Hephaisteion, Hadrian's Gate and the Temple of Zeus, the National Gardens and the Kallimarmaro Olympic stadium, the Greek Parliament and - if you feel like a bit uphill hiking - the Acropolis. (Avoiding the bus-crowds on the other side) Getting hungry? Choice of cozy restaurants In the street and square right outside the hotel. Shopping? All around, from touristy nearby to high end on Ermou.

Now the hotel itself: Rooms are small, but comfortable and clean. We stayed in a 3rd floor room on the south side with view of the Acropolis. Elevator available. Breakfast is served buffet style on a roof terrace decorated with flower pots and shaded by umbrellas. Superb view not only of the Acropolis but in other directions as well while eating breakfast and preparing for the day ahead. Good buffet with Greek and international choices. The place is well maintained and clean, staff going out of their way to be helpful. When in Athens again, would definitely stay at the Adrian again.

1) Tiny rooms. For 5 of us, we paid for 2 rooms, one for 2 people and one for triple. Both rooms were the same size. It was really hard to move around inside the rooms, not to mention the difficulty to open our luggages.

The bathroom even had half size bathtub. I wouldn't call it a bathtub since it was very small. Imagine a square tub with shallow depth. The shower head was very shortly attached, that you had to duck down when using it. It was even hard to walk inside the bathroom, since the toilet and the tub was so close to one another as well as the sink.

2) The rooms and bathrooms were very dirty. We can see molds in corners of bathrooms, and dust lying around the bedrooms, even on top of the bed sheets. And when we opened the bedcover, we could see and smell the dust particles flying in the air.

My daughter got sick having a bad flu after a night staying there. I myself had allergy initiated by having runny nose and watery eyes.

3) The rooms were very old and outdated, looking from the aged carpets, yellowish bed sheets liners, wallpapers that peeled off here and there. It was nothing like pictured in the website.

4) The rooms were not sound proofed. You could practically hear anyone talking from other rooms or even from the street. Our rooms were already 2 floors up.

5) The mattresses were very old, that we could feel the springs sticking out poking our bodies and creaking too.

6) The elevator with a metal folding door was very small. It only fitted 2 luggages and 2 people every trip. So it took us 3 trips to bring all of our 4 luggages and 2 carry ons.

7) The worst part was that there was a smell of the smoke from cigarettes left by the previous guest. We requested online specifically on nonsmoking rooms. One of the rooms given to us had very very strong smell of cigarettes smoke. We even tried to open the window to let the smell go out (during winter in cold temperature), but the strong smell was still there. In our sleep, I swear I could still smell it and got awaken many times by it, and couldn't sleep through. For a non smoker like me, it was a nightmare to be trapped in that situation.

The next day when we went out we left the window still opened wide hoping it would get better, yet during late afternoon when back the strong smell was still very strong.

We couldn't stand the cigarette smell that had been absorbed by the room and dust flying anymore, so on second day we decided to move out from Adrian hotel. We unfortunately had paid fully our 3 days-stay in Adrian hotel. We tried to bring up the problems on the smell, dirt and dust by calling the receptionist. He just rejected to refund the rest of our unused stay. The guy just rudely answered us it's their policy not to refund any payment. He just didn't want to listen to any of our complaints and hung up Wile we were still talking.

Regardless of the non-refundable money we had paid, we still moved out from Adrian hotel and were rather buy another rooms in other hotel. We didn't want to make our stay miserable in Athens, especially leaving bad memories to our kids.

8) There's no facilities at all in the hotel. The wifi hardly worked except in the lobby, and got cut off many times.

9) The breakfast room during winter was a low ceiling small room filled with dry and hard bread with cookies and milk. Adrian hotel lured the prospect guests by showing on the internet their outdoor terrace as their breakfast room, looking to the Acropolis. That terrace is used only during warm days.

10) In the morning on the second day, we asked the receptionist for some suggestion where to eat. To our shock, he answered that he wouldn't give any information about that to us. He explained that the reason was because he was afraid to be accused to get any commission from any restaurant. It was the most ridiculous answer we had ever heard.

In conclusion, for us Adrian hotel was simply a HAZARD to our health to stay in, and had created such bad memories during our stay in Athens unfortunately.

We enjoyed a lovely stay at the Adrian for 3 nights. The Manager and other staff were friendly and helpful. The rooms were comfortable and clean, with plenty of soft towels in the small but adequate bathroom.Yes, our balconies faced a wall, but we were only there for 3 nights in November so really did not find this much of a negative! The breakfast buffet consisted of tea, coffee and bottled water, bread, cheese, ham, cake, and lovely Greek yoghurt with a choice of fresh fruit. Each morning we were given freshly squeezed orange juice on entering the breakfast room and offered bacon with two fried eggs. Lovely!! Location in Plaka was excellent, and would definitely stay here again.
