“A pleasant stay.”
Reviewed 27 June 2014

Very friendly and accommodating staff. Hotel is clean and good value for money. Close to station and Plaka, but in a rundown, tired and derelict area. However, as two older ladies , we never felt threatened. Breakfast was adequate . View from breakfast balcony of Acropolis was lovely. As a budget Hotel , we found it friendly , comfortable and affordable. If you travel from Airport, make sure to get off at Monastaraki station. About a ten minute walk from station and also from Hotel to the Plaka .

Room Tip: The higher the better, but can be noisy at night with tables and chairs being moved about as the bre...

The reviewer who said "better than the environment" is right on.

On the one hand, it is right in the center of Athens, minutes away by foot from Acropolis, from shopping, and other sights, so in that sense the location is very good.

On the other hand, it's right in the middle of a slum - there's no other way to describe it - probably one of the worst areas of Athens. We never felt unsafe or anything, but it is indeed very, very run down. This is the caveat.

The hotel itself is most excellent, however. The staff were extremely courteous and helpful. Everything was clean, the room service was perfect, the breakfasts were awesome (especially if you love the simplicity of eggs, cheese, ham, and tomatoes, with toast). There is a convenient little elevator, a bar, and a roof with a view of the neighborhood and the rest of the city.

The rooms are clean, but sparse. It is great value for money, but not luxurious. Everything was clean and worked. The staff were helpful and friendly. The location is fantastic for getting around Athens on foot. Very close to the fabulous Monistiraki markets. The view from the rooftop bar is stunning. SO nice to sit up there with a bottle of Greek wine and enjoy the sunset and city lights.
The morning breakfast, included in the price, is also great.

This hotel had a nice location near the Acropolis. You can actually see it and enjoy it at sunset from the rooftop deck. My husband and I bought a bottle of wine and enjoyed a couple sunsets up there.
As to the rooms, I found the space to be on the tight side. We were two adults and a toddler. I think the baby crib is what made the room seem really small. If we were just two adults the room would have been much better. I thought the bed we slept in was horrible. I might as well have slept on the floor. I tossed and turned all night and woke up sore.
The front desk people were very nice and super helpful. They took time to get to know us and had little treats for my son.
Overall I thought this hotel was nice but the beds could use a little improvement.

The staff was extremely kind and supportive.
The room was very clean and all the facilities worked properly.
We are in love with the views from the roof bar, we had amazing breakfasts up there.

We just wanted a comfortable, clean, and convenient place to sleep for a couple of nights while we spent a day in Athens en route to Santorini. The hotel was exactly that. The people at the front desk were friendly, warm, and funny, and the room was clean and comfortable, if not stylish, although the twin beds pushed together were disappointing since we wanted a double bed.

While several people have commented on the neighborhood, it was just fine though it looked run down in the immediate vicinity of the hotel. It felt perfectly safe, and within a couple of blocks around the hotel were coffee shops and places to eat. And of course it's a very short walk to the Acropolis, which was our main reason for stopping over in Athens.

All in all the Evripides Hotel was exactly what we were looking for, and we were very happy with our stay there.

A nice hotel in a good location, but a very run down neighborhood. We were able to see the Acropolis from our balcony and other interesting things as well, shown on the attached photo. I found the dirty seedy surroundings rather interesting .It didn't put me off, since I felt safe and sometimes I enjoy the colorful reality of the life.
In the hotel we had a quite spacious room with comfortable bed,and bathroom with amenities, hairdryer, etc. Everything was clean, the breakfast was nothing special, but good, the view from the breakfast room was stunning, and the staff was friendly.
In addition, because the Plaka was just a stroll away, you can enjoy nice dinners in one of the rooftop restaurants.
I would go back again.
Our only problem was to find the hotel.
