We stayed here for 4 days in September 2013. It's was a wonderful experience. The staff was very welcoming and helpful. It is so convenient to everything, we were able to reach everything we wanted to see and do after a very short walk. I would return here and definitely would advise any one to stay here.

I like to go to Athens and have been a few times. I stay at the Adonis each time because of the location. Within 5 minutes walk I can be at Syngtagma Square, or inside the Plaka with restaurants, outdoor rooftop movie, all the shopping anyone needs, and within walking distance to the Acropolis, New Acropolis Museum, and the metro. Service by Giorgo, Niko and Yiannis are great. Also Sandra's personality and smile in the morning (as she serves continental breakfast) competes with the astounding view of the Parthenon from the breakfast rooftop terrace. The rooms are basic but extremely clean. I have a little trouble with the small bathroom as I'm well over 6'.but I'm use to European bathrooms now. Oh, there is a bar/lounge on the rooftop that has great nighttime view of the Acropolis.

Room Tip: Only two rooms are on the 3rd floor (sleeps3 (with a balcony view of the Acropolis) These you have t...

Location and roof are excelent. Room, clean even it is a bit old. Be careful about asking people in reception about how to go from one place to another as they will always tell you to go by taxi (obviously they have some kind of agreement with a taxi company) and that public transport is very dangerous, what is not always true as people of Athens Information told us.
As every hotel in Plaka, expensive regarding the services provided.

Dear Guest,
We think your review is unfair regarding the information on public transportation provided by the reception desk clerks. Apparently, you are misinformed. We really want to believe that.
Having been living in this city for more than 40 years, we can be sure of some things. One of those is that the ride by bus from Athens center to Kifisos or Liosion Bus Station is neither convenient, nor the safest one, especially for a tourist. Not convenient because it requires two different buses and one change at the worst part of the city center which is Omonia Square. Not so safe because on the second bus, lots of pickpockets wait there to make your trip unpleasant.. If you have an updated travel guide, you can confirm the above.
Of course, you might be lucky enough to survive the pilferers, but we don’t think that someone should take the risk, and this is the ONLY reason we suggest that our customers take a cab to go to these two specific destinations. But for other places, such as the airport or the port of Piraeus, we, the persons at the reception desk that really care and look after our guests, always point out the option of public transportation unless, of course, it’s during the night when transportation is limited.
We apologize for being overprotective and, in any case, we would like to thank you for choosing our hotel for your recent stay in Athens.

I stayed @ Adonis, 8-913, It was a GREAT VALUE, the room was small but clean! The room came with roof-top continental breakfast with a beautiful view of the Acropolis! I traveled with my husband, and my 4 and 7 yr old. We did have to get two rooms but the price was still cheaper than 1 room ( I think that $150 range is what I am willing to pay outside the US) and it was way cheaper than that. The hotel is in Plaka idea for touring and lots & lots of shopping! Generally when visiting Plaka cushy amenities is NOT a priority. With that being said location, sleeping, bathing and a safe place to stay with a GREAT price is definitely Adonis

This hotel is nicely located close to all of the main attractions in Athens. You can walk to the Acropolis in about 15 minutes (assuming you have a map and know where you're going). Lots of great restaurants nearby for all price points, so there's something for everyone.

If you're considering this hotel for a family, this might not be ideal. Let me emphasize-- the rooms are tiny. For a couple or even for a couple with one child, this might be okay. But we have two young kids, and it was not a very good fit for us. We were quite cramped in our room. The breakfast is ok- they didn't have any fresh fruit, but you can buy your own nearby if you like. Another bummer- you can't leave your a/c running while you're gone. They ask to have your keys when you leave, and attached to the keys is a key that shuts off your electricity when you remove it from a slot in the room. This is pretty common in a lot of hotels now, but you can usually leave the key for the slot in your room when you leave other hotels. This one doesn't allow that. So, you just have to deal with a super hot room for the 30 or 40 minute it will take to cool down once you're back in your room with the electricity on.

The view from the upstairs bar / breakfast area is superb. It's a perfect shot of the Parthenon. They also have two guest rooms that have a nice view of the Parthenon.

If we'd have stayed here before kids, this place would have been a great fit for us. But, the walls are thin, and everyone will hear if your kid wakes up crying in middle of the night. If you're planning to be gone all day long and only really need a place to sleep between sightseeing, this is a great place. But if you'd like a place with ambiance and charm, this is not the place for you.

AFTER 35 YEARS IN HOTELS ........people are really changing........

..when a customer is blaming and bad rating an hotel about thin walls and noises.......did he realize that no walls will keep noises if the same customer is making noise????? .
unfortunately this is the situation now days....no respect for people sleeping next door.........
WHAT AN HOTEL MANAGER AND HIS STAFF CAN DO ABOUT THAT?????
The hotel Adonis is situated in a pedestrian street ...no cars around...in one of the most quite and safe areas of Athens.....if there are noises ...these are coming from customers behavior.....
And how about the A/C running all day...........DO WE HAVE ANY EDUCATION OR NOT....what are all these articles about ecology and our poor planet ....SHOULD WE ALL SAVE ENERGY OR NOT....that s why we turn off our a/c when rooms are without the customers inside....
... ANYBODY LEAVES HOME WITH HIS A/C ON...????
but the hotels have to deal with that....
anybody really thought about our low room prices???costs e.t.c.
We all here at the Adonis hotel to satisfy our clients...and we work hard for that....
some of them are disappointing us.........we ll live with that
thank you for the space...Spyros Dervos
