“Handy for the ferry”
Reviewed 31 July 2013

Get the X96 bus from the airport. When on the bus, phone the hotel. They will tell you to ask the driver to let you off at the Demitrio? Theatre stop. You will be picked up and taken to the hotel within a few minutes. There is no charge for this service, nor for taking you to the port in the morning.

The hotel reception is bright and modern. If you can, ask for a room on the first or second floors, we were put on the fifth floor and the room was a bit run down to say the least. Looking into some open rooms on the lower floors on the way down, they seemed to have been refurbished.

Breakfast is very good value. Orange juice, omelette sausage bread rolls etc. tea or coffee and is buffet style.

Room Tip: Ask for one on a lower floor. Also the lift is very small and if you have large pieces of luggage...

This place is great if you have a next morning early ferry at the Port, they provide free shuttle transfer to send you to the ferry.
We didnt pre arrange pickup service and finding the place is a nightmare, took us 40mins frm Metro station dragging luggage across to get there. But i guess if you pre arrange it with the hotel they could pick u up.
Room
The room is old, very traditional looking and totally doesnt look like the picture at Booking.com
But the bathroom is clean. Infact the reception checked us into a wrong room the first time and after we settle down we got a call that we have to move room as they got the room wrong
(It was a very very long flight and transit and last thing you need at 9pm at night is to pack up and move room)
Breakfast
Quite a reasonable spread for the price we paid for
Overall, look for better hotel if you are planning to have a holiday stay.. But if you r on budget/backpack then its alright.

Piraeus Inn - Kountouriotou 189, Piraeus, GR

We stayed one night at this hotel on May 8, 2013. We selected it because we needed to catch a 7 am ferry to the island of Milos the next day and they offered a free shuttle to the port. With the help of locals, we got off the X96 bus about 5 blocks from the hotel. We walked to the hotel. We thought the neighborhood looked a little sketchy but the Piraeus Inn was a welcoming bright doorway after 16 hours of traveling.

The desk clerk on duty offered us glasses of ice water as soon as we walked through the doorway. He got us registered, set up a 5:30 am wake up call for us to catch the shuttle to the port, and gave us a few restaurant reconditions.

Our room was small but clean. There were two balconies, one that over looked the street with its flowered covered balconies of the neighborhood and the second balcony over looked the back court yards of the apartments behind us.

Amenities: Free in room WiFi, TV, AC, small elevator, a desk, wake-up call and of course the free shuttle to the port. We did not purchase it, but for an extra €6.00 they offered a breakfast that looked pretty good- eggs, bread, jellies and coffee.

At first our impression was not so good, because to get to the hotel from the port you have to pass some seedy locations, but eventually it turned out the place is really nice. Price for the room was really low and the room we got was not so good (it had a 70s decay vibe to it). The lobby and the first two floors have been extensively renovated, but we were on the third. Despite the room, we were positively impressed by the AC in the room, the service, the delicious and varied free breakfast and the free pickup service. All these things and the low price make this place deserve the excellent rating we gave it. Highly recommended for short stays when you are sick of downtown Athens.

Room Tip: Be sure that you get a room in the renovated section.

We stayed there for only one night after returning from Santorini and before our flight home. The hotel is good for this particular purpose - it's close to the port, rather cheap and clean. But I would never choose it for the whole vacation!

Great place to stay when catching the ferry the next morning. The room we got was a little misconceived. We thought we were getting a more boutique style hotel room like in the photos, but we ended up with an outdated 90s special interior designed room. Whatever, its just for one night, cannot really beat the price for one night. It came with breakfast which was very good, eggs and friend ham made when you entered the breakfast room, with fruit and pastries on the side, coffee, tea or juice as well. The shuttle was efficient and handy since it would be longer walk one would want to take in the morning.

It's a great place to stay for a night and take the next day a ferry to one of the Greek Islands, the ferry harbour is close by and the hotel offers a shuttle service.
The people are very friendly and helpful. The breakfast has good quality and is plenty (eggs, bacon, toast, cake, choice of coffee/thee and fruit)
