We recently stayed here just for 1 night as a stop over en route to an island and for sightseeing.
On arrival the man behind the desk immediately came down the stairs to welcome us and help us with our bags up the stairs to reception.
We had a family room, it wasn't the one pictured which was a shame but it was quite spacious and beautiful all in all. My daughters bed was a double one which was nice.
The balcony only overlooked the back of the hotel but we were not there long enough for this to be a problem. The bathroom was lovely and modern with a great shower and some very small containers of shampoo, conditioner etc.
We all had a very good nights sleep in a very large , very comfy bed and once it kicked in the aircon was great.
The only slight downside which was just a misunderstanding really , was that we were told breakfast was until 10.30 and we took that to mean we had to just be there before 10.30 when in actual fact we should have been in and finished by 10.30. This in itself wouldn't have been a problem if we had understood properly but as we only got there at 10.20 it meant I felt we should hurry our breakfast which was such a shame as it was absolutely delicious! To be fair to the lady serving breakfast, she did welcome us in and allow us to eat without rushing us away, I just felt a bit bad for holding her up!
The hotel itself is in a great location...near enough the centre to walk to some sights or get the metro, but far away enough to still be quiet.
We were also welcome to leave our bags the next day while we went sightseeing until it was time to leave.
I would definitely stay here again. Lovely, spotlessly clean rooms.

Room Tip: Get to breakfast in good time to allow you enjoy it, its a fabulous selection of cheeses, meats, bre...

Sweet Home Hotel (SHH) is a small hotel well located in a quiet street just a few steps from the bustling tourist areas of Syntagma and Monastiraki. My wife and I stayed 3 nights, deciding to pay the 20 euros extra for a room with a ‘view’ of the Acropolis. SHH has the decided advantage of location without the external noise (but as others have commented, the rooms don’t seem to have a lot of insulation and if you’re unlucky with inconsiderate neighbours (we were) internal noise can be annoying).

The hotel looks as though it has been newly renovated and was very clean with modern amenities. The hotel only has 4 floors and has a lift but for some reason it only operates from the first floor, which is where reception is located. As others have commented, getting up that first flight of quite steep and narrow stairs with luggage was a bit of a challenge.

The rooms with the ‘view’ appear to be the 2 rooms located on the 4th floor. I formed the impression that the rooms on the floors below have the same layout, just don’t have the Acropolis ‘view’. Our room was very neat, tidy and modern but quite small. After putting 2 medium-sized bags in the room there wasn’t much space left for movement around the room. The bathroom was also clean and functioned well, but again it was small.

Room inclusions were a TV, safe, small refrigerator, and electric jug with 2 tea satchels (no coffee or milk). The room had a/c and complimentary wifi. Breakfast was also complimentary and was excellent.

My main complaint with my stay at SHH was ‘the view’. It wasn’t a ‘look out the window and there it is’ type view. Seeing the Acropolis required standing at the right side of the room’s window and looking up to the left. And there, between 2 taller buildings which chopped off each end of the Acropolis, was the view. It did show probably 2/3 of the Acropolis but was certainly not panoramic and much better views were available just by walking around, particularly at Monastiraki square. In addition the window had a fixed flyscreen which prevented photos being taken from the window. Rather ridiculous!

I would certainly consider staying at SHH again but in one of the ‘non-view’ rooms, thereby saving 20 euros. The view is simply not worth that much.

We spent only one night in Athens and not being a family particularly fond of big establishments we looked to this charming B&B for a centralized location to maximize our short time in the city.

Sweet Home delivered on both these fronts, this owner run hotel in a quiet street less than five minutes walk from Syntagma Square and perfectly located to explore the city on foot truly feels like a little bit of home especially having to carry two weeks worth of luggage for a family of four up the first flight of stairs to reception. Thankfully once you get to reception there is an elevator to take you to the remaining floors. The delightful staff and the hotel's thoughtfully restored and what seems like recently refurbished interior more than makes up for this.

While many on TA comment on the cozy size of the rooms, we have two younger children and booked a triple which may have provided for a little more breathing room. The bathroom while cozy was new, fresh and modern with a great shower, the bed and it's linens looked and felt luxurious and provided much needed comfort and a good night's sleep.

Our stay may have been brief but was made memorable at breakfast as we stepped into the light-filled 'feels like you're eating on an open rooftop' breakfast room. The breakfast buffet is quite special with good options. Insert a view of the Acropolis and this may be one of the nicest places to start your day in Athens.

We would definitely consider returning to Sweet Home on a return trip.

Room Tip: If you're looking for more space check how much bigger a triple room is.

The Sweet Home Hotel is in a great location, easy walking distance to all the sites worth seeing in Athens. It was a bit noisy as sound traveled easily through the hall and doors, but tolerable given the price and location. We had to leave early in the morning, before breakfast was served so I cant comment on the quality of breakfast. However, it would have been nice had the attendant told me the night before, when I was scheduling an early morning taxi, that I could order some breakfast to be served before we left. I found that out in the morning when I asked the morning attendant where I could get breakfast.

Room Tip: Our room was very small, and we could hear everyone in the hall, not sure there is a quite room.

A lovely and helpful staff, nice and comfortable room, quiet and ideally located to explore Athens, lots of nice restaurants in the surroundings.
Our room was tiny (room 203) - insonorisation not perfect but excellent value for money !

The ideal place to stay in Athens !

Stayed here for two nights in a double room with a side view of the acropolis for 140 euros per night. This place is very cosy - there is not much room to move around but it was spotless. Bathroom was modern and clean. I liked the tv - you could surf the net through the tv. The location is great - walking distance to all the main attractions. The staff were helpful and helped us book the day tour for us to delphi. Breakfast was delicious and we felt like we were at a home stay rather than a big hotel. We really enjoyed our stay.

Room Tip: The view of the acropolis is tiny from the 'side view' room so if you're not fussed, jus...

My husband and I checked in from May 16 until May 18.

Breakfast was good. Good location. Every thing was clean and sparkling.

However, if you are carrying heavy luggage then you are in bad luck. Once you enter you are going to have to carry your luggage up the stairs (a good 20 steps at least) by yourself most likely. The receptionist might help you with one bag.

The rooms are fairly small.(High price for what we got, but maybe it is for the location).

Also, we were very disappointed that despite putting the no disturb sign at the door, housekeeping still went into our room. We complained to the receptionist; however it appeared that his English wasn’t good enough to understand our complaint. Once we left the hotel, we received an apology via email.
