Came to the Beer Academy for the first time the night before last. Fantastic selection of Beers from everywhere. Really good food and very nice staff (all a bit mad!) It’s on three floors, two indoor mainly for winter and a great roof-terrace, which is open in summer and glassed off in winter. Can’t recommend this place more. Enjoy!

“Best Bar in Athens So Far”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 8 September 2013

I'm currently studying in Greece for a semester with a group of 30 students. 3 of us guys went out to Beer Academy Home as I'd heard their beer list was solid and it was only a 15 minute walk from where we live.

Upon arriving, we were seated on the beautiful garden balcony, overlooking the city and Lycabettus Hill. Upon opening the menu, the beer list was even better than I'd been led to believe. I was amazed to see a very solid selection of Trappists and other Belgians, and I was extremely excited. Gus, our server, seemed to be just as excited as well. He was incredibly helpful, gave us great beer advice, and was happy to sit and talk beer with me, a fellow beer geek. He even came over and wanted to know what we tasted in each of the beers we tried. The beers were fantastic and served out of their proper glasses. Gus finished the night by bringing over shots and doing a shot of tequila with all of us. I've never, ever gotten service like this in the US.

Of course, we brought back 4 more friends 5 days later. We had a different server, Stefanos, who was equally awesome. We ordered a 3L tower of Weihenstephan hefeweisen, but I suspect it was filled closer to 5L. He was again happy to chat beer and we talked about a trip I was planning to Belgium to try beer. Stefanos later brought us a round of tequila shots and took one with us. A friend of ours had earlier mentioned can't drink alcohol due to an enzyme deficiency, and Stefanos made sure to include a shot of pomegranate concentrate for him. He later brought a round of Mastika, once more with a shot of juice for our friend.

All in all, an excellent beer list plus stellar service means frequent visits from our group while here. The people we've encountered working here have been hospitable, friendly, and willing to chat beer. They seem to genuinely love serving and talking about good beer, and that makes all the difference.
