I've been to this place several times during the years, usually after 12am -as most Greek people go out quite late compared to other countries.
I've had both drinks and vegetarian meze (just ask them for meze without meat and you got a vegetarian option -which you could easily make vegan as well).
Prices are cheap, especially considering the area. A small bottle of ouzo (200ml) will cost you 7 euros, a small meze platter 1.5 euros and a soft drink 2.5 euros.
Staff is polite and always makes an effort to speak English to non Greek customers.
It's a cozy place where a lot of friends meet regularly so it has a friendly vibe.
During the summer there are also tables outside.
Toilets are fairly clean, location is easy to find (close to the train station and the Parthenon), and they usually have Greek popular music on (like laika, and rembetika).
You will usually find people in their 20s or 30s drinking and chatting there.
The owner of Skales and the patrons are quite friendly as well.
Bonus points for them taking care of a few stray cats who are always welcome in the place.
