Very friendly. The location is definitely off the beaten path, but close to everything (beach, subway). The rooms were smaller than expected, but clean and air-conditioned (at least on the main floor). We thoroughly enjoyed the daily breakfast and playing with the kittens. The bed on the main floor was ok, but the singles upstairs were hard as rocks and we didn't use them after the first night. Would stay again, but with different expectations.
Everything in Varaba Country house was awesome. Hosts were wonderful and warm people. We had a great time there. It was very well maintained, clean, spacious, with nice common kitchen. Hosts went out of the way to make the stay comfortable. Very close to airport.
The only problem was the location and accessibility. Nick helped us to pick us up and drop as well. Since we wanted a place near to airport we picked this up else it would have been a little out of the city.
We stayed in Varaba Country House one night as it was very convenient in between our flights. We arrived to Athens past 10 pm and the taxi driver was waiting for us, took us to the house and showed us everything. The house and the room were beautiful - modern, clean and beautiful decor!
We were served a delicious Greek meal with wine, and ate outside, in the lovely private courtyard. The next morning, the breakfast was set up for us. We had a bit of time to enjoy the beautiful setting and play with the cats. The taxi took us back to the airport in less than 15 minutes in plenty of time and no stress.
Highly recommend if you need a place close to the airport! Fantastic! Efcharisto!!
We booked this for a nights stay at the end of our holiday prior to an early morning flight home. Not many places near the airport but we found this at half the price of the airport hotel and booked it. Its between the airport and Markopoulo, about a 10 min drive to the airport, and it really is fabulous and run by a great family who will provide a meal or there is a well equipped kitchen to do your own thing. Luxurious lounge area and outside patios for visitors to use. Nikos will collect or deliver you to the airport for a reasonable additional charge. Could be difficult to find as its in the middle of nowhere but taking care its well signed from Markopoulo. It really is a fabulous place and would be suitable for a longer stay in the area. We shall certainly stay again when visiting Athens.
An excellent and preferable accommodation close to Athens airport. Wonderful service. Lovely rooms. Excellent dinner. In country setting with grape vines pecan and olive trees. Much better than airport hotel. A little oasis.
Darling! Couldn't be cuter, cleaner, charming, or more accommodating! They definitely treat you like family. Staying here was better than any 4 star hotel we stayed at during our two weeks traveling around Greece. Would definitely recommend. He even drove my daughter and I to the airport at 4am... super accommodating to all of our needs.
A wonderful stay - just one night when we had to be at the airport by 5:45 am and I didn't want to mess with a 45 minute drive from downtown Athens. I was a bit unsure since it was so affordable and a bit secluded, but it worked out perfectly. The driver was very nice - picked us at the airport, took us to the house and showed us around, then returned the next morning (at 5 am), even though I told him we'd leave at 5 am. He knew I'd be worried getting ready if he wasn't there - so he got up extra early to come. It took less than 15 minutes to get to the airport- super fast and easy. He offered to get us food my kids could eat since I wasn't sure they'd be up to trying greek food and couldn't have been more helpful. The house was super clean, well stocked, and decorated nicely. The area around the home was olive trees, a peanut tree orchard, and a tiny family-owned chapel that was the first of hundreds we would see. It was a lovely spot, close to the airport, and worked out great. And... since it was so affordable, I put the money towards a really nice place in Santorini!
