“Horrible location, patronising staff, no class or charm... don't do it!”
Reviewed 12 December 2013

We booked through Mr and Mrs Smith for a birthday celebration last May and had a horrible experience from beginning to end. The ikea-euro decor in the lobby and the very Mr and Mrs Smith-style chill out music did not disappoint necessarily, but the moment we checked in, it all went wrong. This feels like a very odd enclave of staff who think they're really something special, and have obviously read that being snotty will make customers think that you're offering something exclusive. They gave us 3 wrong rooms (all with single beds!) and got annoyed when we protested. Then they said that the hotel was full and that this was all we could hope for - an actual quote was 'you're lucky you get any room at all". My goodness. The hotel was far from full, the rooms were borderline DIRTY and the service was horrible. The area is a complete disaster really, and while other reviewers have been generous, I did not feel safe as a woman walking to and from the hotel at night. You can do better in Athens!!

High quality hotel in the center of Athens
The surroundings are not the best in terms of security but the hotel has a private large parking and you can call a cab from the reception an enjoy the night life of Athens.
The hotel is just a few minutes away from Monastiraki square giving you the opportunity to explore ancient Athens and Akropolis.
The roof garden with the stunning view offers a variety of high quality food and breakfast is more than adequate and with various selection of greek products to select.
Overall and excellent way to explore Athens on foot with safety and high quality services included

Stayed at the Fresh hotel in May 2O13 after a cruise. The hotel is lovely. The breakfast is a delicious buffet. Roof pool and deck are perfect after a long day of touring. The room is compact and comfortable. Nice balcony. Some have mentioned they felt the area was questionable. I did not. It is a typical large city with a variety of people. I enjoyed the fifteen minute walk to the Acropolis. Passing open air fish and meat market and an interesting variety of other merchants. I would stay again.

Scruffy area but good for Acropls, Archaeo Mus, Plaka, metro.
Clean, well-maintained. Bright decor, 'minimalist' but adequate furnishings.
Helpful efficient staff. Good top-floor bar/resto.
Good breakfast.

We just came back from The Fresh Hotel, we spent 4 nights there and we liked it a lot.
We liked mainly spacious, nice and clean room with bathroom and balcony, very good breakfast and very friendly staff. We also appreciated welcome package of fruits and water.
After discovering the city we would prefer to stay in the location like Monastiraki or Syntagma, but hotels in these locations are probably much more expensive, so I guess we would stay in The Fresh Hotel again :-) Hotel is in the walking distance (5 - 10 min) from the metro stations Omonia and Monastiraki. Neighbourhood is not perfect, but we felt safe, the city is full of police officers.

We spent a night here, and were very pleasantly surprised by the hotel. Very modern, with minimalist but effective décor. The rooms, though small, are extremely comfortable, with good showers, but the balcony wasn't very user-friendly but gave great views. The terrace is a relaxing place to wind down after a day's sightseeing, and has good views of the Acropolis, A brilliant breakfast, with plenty of choice of continental or cooked breakfasts, good coffee, assorted teas, freshly squeezed orange juice; all that you needed to set you up for the day. It's a bit away from the main tourist parts of Athens but well within walking distance and is in an interesting area with the major food markets nearby. Good to see how Athens really lives and works. Would recommend it, and ask for a room on the upper floors.

I was pleasantly surprised by this hotel, in fact I changed my plans to stay at another hotel to return here. Lot of reviews note the location as "not nice", but it seemed fine to me, I walked all around until about 10 at night as a single woman and felt safe. Athens is pretty run down and graffiti covered in many areas including this, but I felt like it was similar to a lot of major city downtown areas. The hotel is in a convenient location, an easy walk to two metro stations and a reasonable walk to the Acropolis and most of the sights in the central sightseeing district. It's also very near the central market area. Both times I stayed, the rooms were clean, spacious and comfortable although the layout varied quite a bit between the rooms so if you get a room you don't like, they might have something else to show you. There was no exciting view from my room, and the balcony was not really a functional balcony. I thought that the quality of the rooms made up for this. And, there is a nice rooftop area with a tiny pool (not for lap swimmers) and bar/restaurant area which has a decent view of the Acropolis and it's very pleasant up there (but a little pricey). One nice touch is they had free yoga class on Fridays for the hotel guests - I didn't do this or use the gym but liked the idea. Shower and bathroom were fine, wifi is free and worked well, and breakfast was good. Overall, I thought the hotel offered good value for the price and I'd stay here again and recommend to others traveling for either business or pleasure. One tip: if you have a lot of luggage, you really should take a taxi from the airport and don't believe how easy the website makes it sound - walking on crowded sidewalks from the metro to this hotel would not be at all pleasant with a lot of suitcases to deal with, it is several blocks from either of two stations. If you have no or minimal luggage though it would be easy enough and cheaper than a taxi for sure.

Room Tip: They seem to have a lot of variation so if you don't like what they give you you may be able to...
