“great hotel value for money”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 9 April 2008

visited Athens with my wife for 4 days early march. this is the second time we stayed at The Alassia hotel which was recently refurbished . We liked the new wooden floors and new decoration in the rooms. Service was once again very good and a late check out was given without any charge. Hotel's position is excellent 1 minute from the metro and in the commercial centre of AthensI will definitely go back.

I have really no complaints- and am very surprised about the comments about red light districts and hookers here. The hotel is spitting distance from Omonia square, the hub of modern Athens. It is walking distance from the Archaeological Museum, the Exharchia neighbourhood, the central market, and a 30 min walk to the old center. So it is not in the tourist-trodden Plaka district- which I liked as i preferred to see the real Athens rather than just tourist traps.

Now, about the hotel- we paid 70 EUR for a double with breakfast. we asked for a room with balcony which we got. No great views but nice to get some fresh air and sit in the sun.

The room was fine- the hotel has a modern design, simple and straightforward. When we came in the safe had been left locked by the previous guests and the front desk had it fixed immediately. We requested and got a late check-out. Given the price we paid, i thought the standards were excellent.

  • Liked — Exarcheia neighbourhood close by is full of interesting shops, bars and restaurants.

A cheap hotel right in the heart of the city. No red light district here (!!!) but you get exactly what you pay for; cheap service.
Neirther our room was cleaned during our 4 night stay in the hotel nor were our towels changed. In fact they were folded carefully and placed on a dirty shelf under the sink. The view from our room was horrific. Cement blocks and garbage. No ray of light could go through that. The receptionists (apart from one young man) were politely indiferent to any of our needs. In fact they gave the impression that they would be annoyed if you requested any assistance. A waitress gave us a weird grin when we asked for an irish coffee and we had to change our order because she didn't know how to make it (although it was in the menu). Breakfast was ok. One could definitely find something to eat and I must admit that all the food was freshly prepaired. All in all I would only recommend this hotel to those that don't have too many exprectations or needs. Go back? No!

we stayed in this hotel for 2 nights upon arrival and again 2 nights, 2 weeks later on our departure. If all you want is a bed with a few simple amenities, this hotel is ok. Our air conditioner was broken the first 2 nights and only blew air but the room never cooled down. Upon our return, the same thing happen. We called the hotel desk to have the A/C fixed, after our room was still sweating hot after 8 hours. The hotel maintainence man came up and in a very rude way told us that it is our fault it didn't work, because someone pushed all the buttons on the A/C remote. He set it to what we originally set it to and the room still did not cool down. Athens in July is miserable heat so keep this in mind. The A/C in the rooms of the other people in our party work fine, so I guess it is hit or miss.
This hotel is also located in a very shady area of Athens. Hookers on all the corners at night and you can view people doing heroine and dealing in the side streets. The cops in the area are on foot and are armed with machine guns in this area. I would not advise walking around in this area at night. If you are looking for comfort and ease, DO NOT stay at this hotel! If all you want is a bed and shower, this is the place.

Hi. we visited athens in order to visit the rockwave festival of athens. this hotel proved to be the best option for us. before going into details i must say that the hotel is in NOT RED LIGHTS DISTRICT. in detail
1) the hotel is centrally located and very close to the tube (50m)
2) The rooms are perfect and confortable. for the price we paid it was for sure value for money
3) the Bathroom and shower rooms are very large
4)) We were there and i can confirm that THERE ARENT any Red lights there or prostitutes. (we know because we got a bit curious when we read another online review and we decided to check if that was true and it wasnt)) .
5) the hotel is very clean
6) decoration of the lobby is a perfect
7) I have visited athens a number of times and the breakfast this hotel offers is outstanding.
8) internet available in the rooms (with a small fee) whilst other hotels do not offer the internet
9) walking distance from the main attractions of athens especially for shopping.
10) it is a VALUE for Money hotel.
11) The bar staff and the reception were very friendly and helpful to all of our questions
in all of our future visits in athens this hotel will be our first option. centrally located, within walking distance from the shopping district and other points of interest of athens. it is cheap and VALUE for Money

  • Liked — The Room with the balcony anf the decoration of the lobby
  • Disliked — Pillows!!! were a bit unconfortable

The location of this Hotels leaves nothing to the imagination, as its located in the Red light district of Athens. The room was ok and I guess you get ehat you pay for, but the location was nothing to desire.

The hotel is located in the shady area of Athens. My flight arrived after 10pm, took a taxi to hotel. I should have guessed something was wrong; when I told the taxi driver I was staying near Omonia square, he laughed out loud as if I was joking. The first thing I noticed was prostitutes on every street corner surronding the hotel and lots of undesireables hanging around the local area. The carpet in the room was filthy, the walls in the room were in desperate need of paint, as they were stained and dirty. The beds were lumpy and pillows flat. The view overlooked a delapidated building. The bathrooms were modern, shower water pressure good. However, after leaving this hotel, many locals indicated that Omonia square is not a tourist location. I booked this reservation based on other reviews. What a disappointment.
