The hotel is clean and modern. Rooms are not huge but are very nice with plenty of storage and a large bathroom. Staff are functional rather than overly friendly. The best feature of the hotel is the roof top Sky Lounge. By day there are sun loungers round the lovely pool and at night you can eat with a great view of the city, Parthenon and sunset. The menu is reasonably priced and portions are large, food nicely presented. Best to book a table. It is a nuisance that it closes 6.30 to 8pm if you want a drink. The wine is reasonable but the cocktails are over priced. There is a decent gym with modern equipment and a great view. It is a short walk to the nearest metro station Omonia, and you can reach the Acropolis is under 15 minutes from the hotel. I would certainly stay here again and thought it was good value. Taxis are always available outside the hotel, flat rate to/from airport 40 euros.

Although The neighborhood where Melia Athens is located is not on the highest level, the hotel itself is great!

Personnel helps you perfectly and is there when you need them. Breakfast gives you a lot of choices like continental or English breakfast.

Rooms are very good, with Jacuzzi! We booked the upgraded rooms. A lot of effort was given to make sure the three rooms were interconnected. Wifi works fine and is for free in the public areas.

Last but not least: try the Sky lounge with var and swimming pool! A real great look @ the Acropolis; even when you are in the pool!!

Can recommend the hotel and surely will consider the hotel next time visiting Athens.

I stayed here with my mom over Thanksgiving Break, for a nice mother-son getaway. When we arrived at the hotel, our first glance provided us with a very sophisticated and majestic exterior, which is always nice. As we entered the, the inside was equally as nice. The staff spoke english and was helpful regarding attractions in the area.
Our room was nice, a tad small, but nothing out of the ordinary for a European hotel room. The bathrooms were very nice and modern and the room looked sleek. Since the hotel is on the corner of a block, you have a busy view beneath you. The rooftop has a pool and a gorgeous view of the Acropolis. At night, it can get a bit noisy, but I'm a noise sensitive sleeper and I really wasn't bothered.
The location was perfect for my mom and I. We don't mind walking, in fact we probably walked 7-10 miles a day, but the further you walk the more beauty you find. Its roughly a 20 minute walk to the Acropolis, and once your there you are, so it everything else... Many people never see the Filoppanous Hills, but its a must...Even for those who don't like walking, thats all Athens is. Although the hotel is claimed to be near the "narcotic center" of Athens, we never came across it and felt safe -despite troubles in Greece- and we walked around Athens to every attraction. The Acropolis is a straight shot form the Hotel along with the Plaka and Agora. On average we walked about 1.5- 2 miles to all the major attractions, but the walk is enjoyable, everything is clustered together and you pass great cafes, restaurants, and beautiful buildings on the way such as Overall it was a great trip and I highly recommend it.

Room Tip: If you are very noise sensitive, then perhaps a higher floor room might suit you better, as I mentioned you are in the heart of the city,so a few honks might occur.

Came here for 5 days by myself to explore the city. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful as well as knowledgeable and made time for conversation. Fay (reception), Dimitri (bar), Fatini (bar), Georgina (bar), Eleanor (manager), Thesios (reception) all made me feel very welcome and just added to the whole experience. The sky lounge bar and pool makes the breathtaking experience of seeing the Akropolis for the first time an even better one, and provides a lovely place to relax and enjoy. A big thank you to all the staff that made my stayin Athens amazing. Very sad to have had to leave

Been here for 5 days on our athens trip. Great hotel, nice rooms, good service and a perfect roof garden with pool, cocktails and excellent food. The breakfast buffet offers a good variety of greek and continental food. The price is reasonable.
