“Disappointing...”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 20 February 2013

Was supposed to stay there for a period of two weeks but could hardly handle one night. Photos of the rooms are misleading, stained walls, some hair on the floor/bed, no working heating (3 old blankets were provided though), very old mattress, humidity smell in the room and I could go on. The worst though was the indifferent, cocky attitude from the manager (like talking to a wall, does not accept any comments), the other stuff was nice though. It is very close to monastiraki station but the it is not worth it, way friendlier hostels around.

Room Tip: Do not count on the pictures- they are totally misleading.

We've stayed at Fivos in July 2012. Certainly not a pleasant stay but it was the cheapest option. But don't be tempted by the price, because they are THIEFS!
7 months after our stay they debited my creditcard with 315€! DON'T USE YOUR CREDITCARD BECAUSE THEY WILL COPY YOUR CARD!

Stayed here march 2011 for 4 nights, as headline says 7.50euros a night, aint gonna complain, for the price this hotel was exactly what we expected, mebbe better, location was spot on for travelling around the athens area and superb for walking about at nite, wi oor carry oot.... This trip was with my m8 not a family hol, so didnt need the nice restaurant and fancy accom, we had a great time, bottle of ouzo, can of beer and shanks pony through Athens at nite and it was superb, forget all the recent troubles, its a def place worth visiting, the Acropolis is an awesome monument to the world and is a must see, and you can see it from hotel fivos. Take a trip to Vouliagmeni, visit the lake see the beach, go 2 piraeus, and enjoy the greek people, so nice. I will return 1day and i will stay here again.

Fivos located in the downtown center facing main biz street. The dormitory room's good without upper bunk, the free breakfast was excellent including bread, milk, coffee, fruit etc.
Plenty of toilet, shower.
Canteen available all day for eating, reading, online surfing, chatting etc.
Staff was very helpful with many useful advices, 1 of which reminded me taking metro instead of shuttle bus to airport to avoid traffic caused by local demonstration.
The only negative thing is the room's too hot, a/c not working at all.

Good value for money, perfect location and acceptable breakfast. Lovely staff, but HOT rooms! Air condition does not really work. I had to get upp and take a shower in the night, because I was so swetty.

Very small bed and bathroom, but clean. Our room did not overlook the street, so it was not loud; we did have to walk up 4 flights though (no elevator)! Breakfast was so-so, nothing special. Front desk staff were quite helpful though! And the location is fantastic...right in the heart of the city, the perfect location for sight-seeing.

OMG. It was brutal.

We stayed here only because it was cheap, and it was in every way. We had another nice hotel lined up, but because this was half the price, we decided to cheap out and stay here.

Folks, you get what you pay for.

The family of four had a room with very primitive bunks that squeaked whenever the other person moved (no cross bracing). There was very little storage for 4 people to put their stuff, which was a blessing as it meant an easy exit the next morning. The bathroom had a very strong musty smell, and the ceiling above was full of obvious mold. The beds were not very comfortable. There's a bar area, but it's not open and it's dreary which doubles as the breakfast nook. There's a vending machine but that's unnecessary as there's a kiosk 50m to the left that sells drinks and things for less.

We got NO sleep as young drunks were coming in at all hours and being ridiculously, unnecessarily loud. Most hostels are quieter. The place has no elevator and a midnight check-in actually rolled/thumped their suitcase up the stairs all 6 floors. The frontman allowed this. It was like chinese water torture waiting for it to stop and it was so ridiculous I laughed hysterically.

As others mentioned, breakfast was horrible. Here's the entire menu from good to bad: boiled eggs and coffee, day old bread, brown apple slices, sliced wilted tomatoes, 3 kinds of very wrinkly old olives. A pot of jam covered with flies, margarine. We read the "terrible breakfast" comments ourselves and asked how bad could it be? Well, it's bad, and the description is for you to decide. The boiled eggs we had to wait a half hour for, but it was a positive ending to breakfast at least.

I've stayed all over Europe. This was the worst, bar none. There is no reason to stay here. Avoid at all costs.

Room Tip: You should be paying 10-15 euros per person tops for this place, should you wish to be at an emergen...
